It is a compilation of female/female fronted groups including Garbage, Cher, Blondie, Tori Amos, Jewel, Catatonia, Sheryl Crow, Tina Turner, and others. I have a feeling it will be either SATY, Cornflake Girl, Spark, or maybe possibly RS that is on this compilation. Just some interesting info. I do know what you're talking in fact, indeed, because I was atcually wondering about that because I have the Tori boot "Sweet Old England" and she performs NtRB and the dutch piolets are in it...I just didn't know what that was all about--or how she'd do it..but that solves that. I think it's very possible also that the song is about AIDS, but it also makes sense about the lover thing you were talking about, it really depends on what you want it to mean to you, oh, yes, and like Tori has said, um, sometimes she just writes stuff or starts making it up, and then later she realizes what she has just wrote and the depth of it, or honesty of it...and how many interpretations can be made for all of her songs...I mean really, most of them aren't completely direct in a simple way. I'm wanting CDs though. If there's someone who'd burn CDs for me and has cover scans and all I'll gladly pay shipping and pay for the CDs. It's easier for me with the schedule that I have right now to just have the person buy the CD-Rs and burn copies for me than it would be for me to get the CDs and send them out myself. I wouldn't do that forever, but just for the time being. If anyone would be intrested in doing this please let me know. Thanks, Danielle :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Feb 1999 09:47:06 EST From: "Plain Jane" Subject: past the mission i thought i'd taken enough english classes to disect anything. but this. this did not make any sense to me. so i'd love to hear people's thoughts.. barb. >i wanted to know other people's thoughts on the Past the Mission video. >it struck me the first time i saw it, i understood immediatly what the >song was saying, you know the "that's it!" moment. at first i didn't >like the women and Tori laying down for the priest, it struck me as >wrong, but i eventually realized what it meant. > >______________________________________________________ >Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Feb 1999 04:18:56 GMT From: "Hanna Paulus" Subject: Re: NtRB addition > I think you're on to something because in some DDI shows she >performed NtRB over a track of the "Dutch Pilots". Here's my two cents (or rather, as I live in England - my two pence) on a line from Jackie. At some point Tori sings: "You're only popular with Anorexia, So I turn myself inside out, in hope someone will see..." I always thought that the turning of oneself inside out was a mental thing- you know, going out of one's way to attract attention, doing things unfathomable and impossible just in order to say - "hey, I'm here as well, you know! Don't ignore me". But now that I think about it, with reference to the 'anorexia' line, perhaps the meaning is literal and physical - by being anorexic, to show the 'inside', meaning one's bones (which are so apparent when one is so very thin) - those being apparent on the outside, thus. In a sense, anorexia - some would say - is another way of attracting attention, and a cry for help, and this is where the line 'in hope someone will see' comes in. Hope I managed to make the slightest bit of sense. And copies are > never as good in quality as the original. Of course there will be recordings Not true! Unlike cassette tapes, CD-Rs are a digital medium. This means they have the capability to transfer EXACT copies between generations with no loss. If copied correctly (this part is the kicker), the first copy will sound the same as the 30th and the 3000th. It's all just 1s and 0s. If you copy them exactly, you've got the same sound you started with. > they are done with a special machine that makes a superior quality of Not true. Nor are regular CDs more durable, really. Both CD-Rs and pressed (silver) CDs have the same poly-carb substrate on the bottom. The only real difference is that pressed CDs have notches pressed into the reflective layer, and CD-Rs use a dye to dimulate the notches. This means that CD-Rs are not as reflective as regular CDs and may not play in all CD players (especially old or cheap ones).
