Precious Things and Northern Lad have nothing (well, very to little) to do with each other. "running after the rain" simply means to chase something unattainable; it's about unrequited lust. it's a gawky girl chasing after a boy she considers beautiful knowing he has his eyes only on the popular & pretty girls. NL is about the end of an adult relationship. second, tori makes allusions to older material all the time. Horses refers to "all the white horses" in Winter. Pretty Good Year is pt. 2 of a LE b-side. and there are MANY others. next, the album booklet may have been overseen by tori, but i highly doubt that she designed it. tori probably won't be releasing a new album for a couple of years (aside from the box set next xmas time--how trite of atlantic!), but i don't think she'll stop recording altogether. you're concentrating too much on minute details--lighten up & enjoy the music :o) g. It was pretty good actually... I talked to the DJ some, and as of now it's only available to club DJ's through a DJ company called IRS... and only on vinyl... There is three JS mixes and a Father Lucifer remix!!!!!!!! How cool is that??? Usually in the name of a remix.. if it ends in anything having to do with dub, or intstrumental, that means there are not many words or lyrics in the mix.. and the FL mix was something blah blah blah instrumental.. and there is a JS dub, Wedding Cake Mix, and one other I forgot the name of... But the JS mix itself is pretty cool... it's really really fast, and almost doesn't sound like Tori at all.. I dont' know how many of you are DJ's or are familiar with club/house music.. but sometimes when an artist doesn't put out a club remix... a dance record company will release a mix of a song, using someone else's vocals... Celine Dion/Alanis Morrissete all have a lot of mixes like these... So at first I couldnt' even tell it was Tori.. they sped it up really bad, so imagine playing the JS song on your record player like 3 times the normal speed and add some house beats and there is the remix, hahaha... It's the Chipmunks sing Tori! HAHAHAHAHA... I doubt if it will even be available commercially to us, because the DJ says he's been playing it all week and it wasnt' getting a very good response... Not because it's Tori, but b/c of the remix.. He played Raspberry Swirl too, he says that gets a lot of play b/c people like it :) He played the Sticky Extended Vocal mix... not the slow one they played after concerts, but the more upbeat one.. Well thought I'd give a full report on the first hearing.. Let's pray for commercial release!!!!!! (Christmas in Space) was supposed to be after Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. This isn't the first time there have been typos on Tori's work. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present the evidence to the jury: 1.) On the sticker on the US Talula single reads: "This summerr's biggest film" 2.) On the B-Sides CD (the second CD from the Australian Limited Edition of Under The Pink) Here. In my Head is spelled "Here. In My Hed" on the disc. 3.) There is yet ANOTHER typo on the Spark single, they managed to print: "Have Youself A Merry Little Christmas" Proof that Purple People (Christmas In Space) is nothing more than a typo, is the Japanese print of FTCH, which has it as a bonus track. It is simply listed as "Purple People." The typo would explain all the strange sounds throughout Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. If you insist, I'll throw my opinion into the mix. I think the whole slew of albums is a kind of timeline of Tori's birth and into something else. I'm talking about her birth in 1989-90, when she became who she was when she wrote LE. LE was about being "reborn", about finding a voice, about making a beginning. UTP was about growing up, figuring things out with girls, guys, God, icicles, etc. BfP was really the first REAL tragedy. I mean, there had been some others, little one-song-tragedies like Baker Baker, SATY, etc. But this was the big one. This was death--spiritual death. A real bombshell. So she twinkled into the future, seeing something coming up around the bend with a little spark in her eye, a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Then she takes us into Choirgirl--real, physical death. There's some real tragedy on this record, some real heartbreak, but there's also some real joy and finally happiness with another. It's as if the whole cycle kinda died with the baby (I hate to compare it to a martyr) and this "death" was started by a marriage into something new, perhaps a new rebirth. I've had so much fun reading your posts about this topic--I find it terribly interesting. Keep it up, guys!
