I know you people are getting really sick of me, but I had an idea that could make money for 2 of our favorite websites. :) On one other list I'm on, we're doing a cookbook w/ recipes for things mentioned in the songs. Like for a Tori version, we could have Apple Pie with the Sweetest Cherries, Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake, Peaches and Cream, Ratatouille Strychnine (sp?), you get the idea. We could sell these to EWF w/ the profits going to help out those websites. Does this sound good? I don't want to make it sound like I think we should make money off of EWF, but I think this is kind of cute and would be feasible. If there's somebody out there that's willing to tackle this one, please make your presence known...we'd just need somebody to collect and print the recipes and get them bound. You'd be reimbursed for your costs, of course, the goal is to have some money left over to donate. What do you good people in CyberToriLand think of this idea? Just a thought... I know one person had told me Caton said to >them that he knew Tori was planning to incude >Merman >To the Fair Motomaids of Japan >and Snow Cherries From France >And I'm praying that she'll include "No Angels Here" ! Well, to be fair, I doubt that Tori's planning on doing "a whole show". She's picking and choosing tracks, which means that she could just take enough material to fit on one CD without trying for the feel of "a whole show". And remember, they haven't started laying this down yet, so absolutely nothing is set in stone. Tori herself probably hasn't decided exactly how much to include. She could easily make this a four or five disc set: a relatively complete collection of bee-sides would need at least two discs, and a "whole" live show {taking bits and pieces from several shows} would need another two discs. Now add in the multimedia stuff that she was talking about towards the end of the tour, and you're looking at five discs. And that's without me pulling out my wishlist {I'm hoping that she finally includes that duet with Michael Stipe!}. Since Tori isn't in the studio yet, this is all unsubstianted rumor. We don't know what's going to be on there, no one does. It'll change a whole lot while Tori's working on it. We can hope and compose wishlists {Mary and Girl plugged, duet with Stipe, Snow Cherries, all those bee-sides the US never got . . . }, but it's all just rumor and hope. :) /nad ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jan 1999 14:36:05 -0800 (PST) From: Sarah Subject: Re: Precious Things And The First Time... So I went to Record Exchange today, and was flipping through the used cds and there were two Tori discs -- one was Under the Pink (makes ya just wanna SMACK somebody, doesn't it?) and the other was something I snatched as soon as I realized what its was: the From the Choirgirl Hotel sampler promo. It has Spark, Jackie's Strength, Raspberry Swirl and Playboy Mommy on it. I think I lucked out, but info would be most appreciated. =) Thanks much! I'll tell what I heard about it. Tori invited a good friend and me backstage after the Grand Rapids show (the next to last concert of the tour on December 2, 1999--we felt quite honored and humbled by that) and when she brought up the subject of the DVD and began describing it, I asked her if the DVD was going to be a documentary and she said yes. And you'll be able to tape it with a VCR, don't worry. I'm sure if you buy your own copy, and if you lack a DVD player you have someone tape it for you so you can watch it on tape, no one would mind at all. You would miss some of the features of the DVD if they have extra narration audio tracks on it or something, though, unless your friend taped it both ways (with and without the narration track). I'm attaching below an excerpt of a post I made to ToriNews the week after the tour ended in response to a similar inquiry. If my friend with whom I was in Tori's dressing room feels a need to substantiate what she said about this then I hope he feels free to do so. Despite the best efforts of some, I think most folks who know me know I would never make up this kind of thing, though. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. _____________________________________________________________________ [...] Tori was talking about this to a friend and me after the Grand Rapids show, and the way she described it sounded more like a documentary than a performance video, and she verified this when I asked her about that. I told her I'd heard they shot some footage backstage on the DDI tour, and she said yes, that was going to be on there, and they were also going to include footage of the making of the Pele album in Ireland. She said she wanted to show some of the creative process--how everyone interacts during the recording sessions, etc., but she didn't want to show so much that the process would lose all its mystery. I told her I was sure that wasn't anything she needed to worry about. :-) I'd first heard about this in October when Atlantic was looking for some EWF to interview for this project, and in fact, I heard that some of the unseen MTV interview footage shot with EWF the day of the Garden show in July was going to end up on this thing, too. More details about this DVD will be known in February, and she said Mikewhy will be the first to hear them when they're available. She felt kinda bad that the cameras were there blocking people's views of the last couple shows, and wanted folks to understand that they wanted to get real footage of real shows for this project. They didn't want to try to recreate a concert on a sound stage or anything like that. [...] ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V4 #27 ************************************
