"'We'll see how brave you are,' and that was really about the whole record. That came just about before everything...It's part of my self, my spirit self saying to the rest of myself, 'if you really want a challenge, just deal with yourself." 3. twinkle. the end of the epic novel. the woman who's "killed a man" (either literally or figuratively) and hit rock bottom (meeting lucifer) is still twinkling--finding that inner fire which she thought only a man could provide. 4. pandora's aquarium. the entire album is a mythic journey. this is probably the most literal song on the album in terms of its mythological references. Pandora was the first woman on earth and is blamed for its problems (just like eve). "boy i think you're confused i'm not persephone" persephone lost her daughter to hades for 6 months (?) out of every year and grieved so much for those six months that she created winter. very powerful symbolism here. so, i think these songs all belong as the last tracks on their respective records. the albums just wouldn't be complete any other way. g. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Jan 1999 18:09:50 EST From: Anavrin560@aol.com Subject: Re: icicle In a message dated 1/21/99 1:49:07 PM Pacific Standard Time, ShellyNH@aol.com writes: << Well, I just wanted to get that off my chest. While I agree with you that hatred can be motivated by fear, I don't think it's just a form of fear or always motivated by it. Hatred can also arise out of extreme dislike or disgust. I don't hate murders, rapists, child molestors, because I am afraid of them. I hate them because they don't value people, because they hurt, maim and end lives, I hate them because they have no regard for things I think precious. I do think that hatred is a very stong word and is tossed around freely and misused all the time. So, I think Tori might not be hated hated, the way murderers are. But there are a lot of people who either fear her ideas, or don't understand them, and hatred is just the word they use for how they feel, the way I might casually say that I hate Rebecca Romaign, or like Hanson or something. so anyway :-) carol :-) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Jan 1999 20:49:00 -0500 (Eastern Standard Time) From: Melanie Lynne Starke Subject: Re: Re: Tori earrings...answer. As many people here already know Mikewhy (the owner of The Dent) has ran into some $ situations in which he has had to inlcude some banners on his page to help curb the costs for more web space and a new hard drive for his computer. Similarly, Danica Knox has run into some problems with the server of her wonerful, wonderful site A Realm of Mp3's. Due to the incredilbe amount of mp3's she has, and the high demand her website has, she is looking to purchase a sever which would only cover half of what she has right now. Both of these situations are very unfortunate. Danica and Mikewhy really have done so much for the Tori web community. Both put incredible amounts of time, spend a lot of money, sacrafice their grades (I am guessing for all the time they spend doing their respective sites instead of studying), lose a lot of sleep, and give up a lot of their free time to makes us EwF able to learn and enjoy Tori over the internet. Mikewhy has kept us up to date on everything that Tori has done. I am sure many of you were like me and couldn't wait to get up and check the setlist from the previous nights show during the recent Plugged Tour. While Danica has provided us with a resource to hear those precious live vesions of songs that we just couldn't do without. It saddens me to think that these two great people are spending their own money for us. I really wish there could be something that we could do to support them and help curb the financial cost that they are spending. I can not think of something that would be both successful and helpful for them. I really belive that something needs to be done and would like to ask if anyone has any good sugestions. Killing the bird is crucifying yourself... women who remain silent and fit into what everybody expects of them are empty cage girls.... Anyway, that's how I've always interpreted it, even though I accept others' interpretations. As someone else has already wonderfully said, it's really up to an individual person's experiences and personality which determine the interpretation, so everyone's is different.
