Ignore this message if you dont have a webpage or anything like that, but seriously, i'm annoyed with all these pop-up, watermarks, banners, etc. that are everywhere where you can get free space today... So if you have a webpage on geocities, etc. and want to move it, or even just a mirror of it, mail me and i'll gladly give up some space on my webserver.. i'm still working out the details of how to set it all up, but it's worth it not to be pestered constantly by those annoying little things which i swear crash my browser... I still see many messages requesting some certain items, and it really can become a clutter. I am not complaining, I do the same thing. Well what i am trying to say is I started a "club." go to the address http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/toriamostrades and feel free to join. I have included my list of bootlegs. Please, if you are going to join, include a list of bootlegs, so others can complete their collections. You don't have to trade to get tapes, you just need to be willing to. I hope this works if not, oh well. love, peace, and tori jen P.S. The oringinal has full lyrics inside, and so do some of the boots floating around, mine does not however, just a one sided piece of paper. I ask that you all glance at yours and see if it has lyrics, I'm looking for the official lyrics to Cool On Your Island. I know the piece by heart, even on the piano, it's my absolute favorite, Tori played it FOR ME at the Deleware show.. IF any of you have the boot of that show, that's me who screams "thank you tori...." so anyway, you guys let me know, because I'm really looking hard for some of these words... Do you know when they're expected to ship? Orders from subscribers who got their requests in our mailbox on or before the December 19th holiday deadline were sent out Priority Mail on December 19th. The 19th was the post office's recommended date for sending out Priority Mail for it to arrive before Christmas. The 20th was a Sunday, but the requests we recieved on December 21st were sent out Priority Mail that night. After that we took a break for the holidays. We'll resume sending stuff out tomorrow. Please, no inquiries about specific requests until after New Years. We're trying to get these things knocked out as quickly as possible without making this a holiday season of nothing but licking stamps and stuffing packages. :) Happy Holidays, Richard ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 12:55:14 -0500 From: desmond in a tutu Subject: sleep kentucky babe also sprach Corusca812@aol.com: >MTM recently posted something about his tori-christmas and he asked if anyone >knew what skeeter was.. "kentucky babe" is a song from the late 1890s. the lyrics were written by richard henry buck and the music composed by adam geibel. it was a popular song of the time, which is probably how it entered the vernacular and your father's repetoire. the lyrics, according to are: Skeeters am a-hummin' on the honeysuckle vine, Sleep, Kentucky babe. Sandman am a-comin' to this little babe of mine, Sleep, Kentucky babe. Silv'ry moon am shinin' from the heavens up above. Bob-o-link am pinin' for it's little lady love. You is mighty lucky, babe from old Kentucky, Close your eyes and sleep. Fly away (fly away). Fly away, Kentucky babe, fly away to rest. Fly away (fly away). Lay your sleepy little head on your Daddy's breast. Close your eyes and sleep. Close your eyes and sleep. assuming that "skeeter" was tori's nickname for her unborn child, this could be a plausible explanantion for how she might have come up with the name. perhaps of interest to tori tape traders, the song appears to have been central to a copyright infringement case which went to the supreme court in 1908. adam geibel maintained that the apollo company, a manufacturer of player pianos, infringed his copyright by making and selling musical rolls of "sleep, kentucky babe" (here called just "kentucky babe") and another song. the supreme court ruled against the composer, holding that the musical rolls were parts of a machine and not copies of the music within the meaning of the copyright act. you can find the complete ruling at . needless to say, i'm pretty sure that the interpretation of copyright has changed much since then. woj ps. disclaimer: i'm a yankee! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 18:35:46 EST From: Pianobot@aol.com Subject: Re: [toriandmore] I need Cornflake Girl solo in sheet music! My invitation concerns only those toriphiles who own their own tori-related websites. To others whom this message may reach, my apologies in advance. Now, those who do manage tori sites are probably familiar with the idea of a "Top Sites". This is a method of cross-promotion in which member sites in a database put a link (in this case, a small grayscale button) on their site, to a cgi script on mine. When a visitor clicks through that link, the member site is registered one vote, and the user is taken to a page showing which sites have received the most votes. The most popular site is, of course, ranked #1, and so on. For an example, check out http://www.websidestory.com if you really want to. Anyway, there have been rating systems and webrings and link sites galore showcasing hundreds of links to different Tori sites, and I have found it somewhat confusing to pick one from the next. A more dynamic, democratic, organized system seemed needed, so here it is. This is my contribution to the tori net universe, i hope you like it: the top 25 tori sites. Not only to help start-up and old-timer sites alike pick up some traffic, but to help searching toriphiles find exactly what they're looking for in the jumbled mess of tori sites which comprises the net. Rankings are reset daily. Also, whenever two sites have the same number of votes, the site which was added first gets the higher rank. This comes into play every day when rankings are reset to zero, so even if you get very little votes any other time of the day, you'll still be listed in the Top 25 until enough other sites get voted for that day. That is, if you're thinking about joining, now would certainly be the time. With that said and done, the URLs are as follows: -to add your site: http://topsitez.virtualave.net/tori/newuser.cgi -to take a look at the standings (if there are any, this is a newborn site afterall) http://topsitez.virtualave.net/tori/index.html Once again, my apologies if this invitation was unwanted. Otherwise, I hope to see you there!
