Tori Amos -The Authorized Biography All These >Years $19.95 (11/94) There are two authorized biographies, both by the same author. The publish date that's listed is of the first one. It is complete through UtP. The re-release of the book is through the first half of BfP {it's missing some singles and the tour dates are incomplete -- I personally don't get why they re-released it}. The re-release has the exact same ISBN, so it's impossible to know which one you're getting. You can still find both in bookstores. >2. The Tori Amos Anthology $27.95 (10/98) A book of sheet music, with some from each album. There's also a single song in here, "Rubies and Gold", which has never been recorded. If you have all the other books of sheet music, this one is really a waste of money. If you don't have any of the other books, it's not so bad -- you can get a feeling for how the transcription of her music is different in each of the various books. >3. Tori Amos-The Bee Sides $21.95 (10/95) Bee-sides and a couple of YKTR tracks. All bee-sides are from LE or UtP. >4. Tori Amos Collectibles $29.95 (03/97) This is -the- definitive guide for the Tori collector. It's out-of-date now, since it's missing all the ftch-era stuff, but it's bloody well awesome anyway. It has full color pictures of (almost) all Tori material released. If you plan on getting into collecting Tori, this book is a must. If you're not into it, it's still kinda cool to have to see all the weird-ass stuff that's been released with her name on it. :) >5. Tori Amos Images and Insights $24.95 (03/97) This book just contains pictures and various quotes. Kinda nifty, but something that you can probably put off buying for awhile. >6. Tori Amos Boys for Pele $24.95 (04/96) Sheet music for all the album songs. >7. Tori Amos Little Earthquakes $21.95 (07/93) Sheet music for all the album songs, plus a couple of bee-sides. >8. Tori Amos Under The Pink $24.95 (07/94) Sheet music for all the album songs, plus a couple of bee-sides. >9. Tori Amos From the Choirgirl Hotel $24.95 (07/98) Sheet music for all the album songs. >10. Tori Amos MTV Unplugged $19.95 (10/96) Sheet music of the songs that Tori did on MTV Unplugged. {Well, sheet music for the songs that appeared on the televised version, not all the songs she did.} All material in here, with the exception of "Over the Rainbow", is identical to what's in the other sheet music books. "Over the Rainbow" isn't the Tori-ized version, it's the original sheet music. >11. Tori Amos-CD Book $7.99 by Jim Stapleton (12/95) Not sure on this one offhand, I'm at work. If no one else comes up with an answer, I'll check it when I get home. The author's name isn't ringing a bell at all for me, though. The only CD book I can think of immediately is by Mick St. Michael, which I think is the next item: >12. Tori Amos Interview CD Book $14.99 (03/97) CD book is a quickie biography, nothing really that's not in _All These Years_. It may or may not contain a CD that is a bunch of radio interviews from just before BfP came out. They're recorded on Tori's end of the conversation, so the DJs can be hard to hear sometimes. All that said... More information on all the books {with the exception of the CD books} is in the Tori Resources FAQ. For the sheet music books, it lists all the songs that are in there. All books have the ISBNs listed, so that you can order them through your local store. Before ordering from Amazon, check out some other resources. www.sheetmusicplus.com generally has pretty good prices on the books of sheet music, and their shipping is IIRC cheaper than Amazon. Also check out www.barnesandnoble.com and www.books.com. If you don't have any Tori books, I would suggest first picking up _All These Years_. It's good, informative, and has some wonderful pictures from all stages of Tori's life. If you play piano or another instrument, you may be disappointed in the books of sheet music. The music isn't terribly complete -- Tori's solos and intros are usually left out. If you don't play an instrument {like me!}, I wouldn't bother with the BfP, ftch, or MTV Unplugged books. None of them have anything interesting in them for the non-player, IMHO. The LE, UtP, and Bee-Sides books all have extra goodies in them. UtP has a bunch of notes from Tori in there, things that she did while she was writing the album. Bee-Sides has artwork by Pauline Stuckey {that is her name, right?}, which I think makes the book worthwhile. Oh, there's one other book of sheet music that Tori has a bit in: the _Great Expectations_ book. It has Siren in there. HTH. :) /nad ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1998 10:20:28 PST From: "Jennifer Miner" Subject: Re: [m-lounge] tori in calendars Yeah...I saw this really cool calendar of Tori in Hot Topic...if you've heard of the store. The Upside Down fanclub folded a year or more ago. They were the official fanzine, but the guy who ran it was unable to keep up with the rather large task of running a fanzine for a popular artist. Several fans had ordered merchandise or just subscribed to the fanzine, and never got anything. :( In the US, Really Deep Thoughts is the official fanzine. In the UK, Take to the Sky is the official fanzine. Fans, regardless of where you live, can subscribe to one or the other or both. They're completely separate entities, and publish different articles and get different information {RDT gets their info from Atlantic, TttS gets theirs from EastWest}. More information on these fanzines is available in the Tori Resources FAQ, available by emailing resources-faq@rmta.org. {Note that this is an autoresponder, so if you're on AOL and don't allow email from outside AOL, or if you have a spamblock, it won't go through.} Really Deep Thoughts is also on the web, at http://www.toriamos.org. /nad ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1998 20:13:41 -0800 From: Little Queen Subject: the little red head hi guys i need some help here...im looking for a specific picture of tori...i have a quicktime video clip of her and shes talking about where her music comes from ....says something like "and it comes right through here and out through there and down to the little red head and then whoosh through the earth and bam its like lightning" ok thats not exact but if youve seen the clip, you know what i mean. anyways, shes wearing this pink sweater and there are a couple pictures floating around that were taken from this clip. i need the one where her arms are over her head like a ballerina. its for a friend. dont ask. :) thanks, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~rain~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * moon....big white moon....white as milk moon....youre all i can see from my window, here in the dark. your light falls silver and white across the walls of my cell. the night-tide surges strong in me. so strong i can feel the grip of their drugs loosen. they fancy themselves high priests. their gods have names like Thorazine and Lithium and Shock Therapy. but their gods are new and weak and cannot hope to contain me much longer. for i am the handiwork of far more powerful, far more ancient dieties. very soon my blood will learn the secret of the inhibiting factors the white-coated shamans pump into my veins. and then things will be very different, my beautiful moon..... my big moon........white as milk moon......red as blood moon..... ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V3 #438 *************************************
