Okay, I warn you all that I have been very bored as of lately and have been noticing stupid strange things I have never noticed before. Tori's new favorite pair of earrings seem to be little dangly doodles. How cute. Hooray! I've been watching the Complete Videos thingy repeatedly and I noticed something. Tori has her left ear double pierced. In the Winter video there are 2 hoops on her left ear and in the Silent All These Years video there is only one earring upon her ears and it's on her left ear in the second hole. She doesn't seem to sport earrings in the second hole anymore, or so I think. She is barefoot in many of her videos. I HATE FEET. But anyway. . . Okay, yeah, I'm a bit psycho so leave me alone! And most of the > difference has to do in the acquisition of the picture and sound, not > in the end media. Not to be too picky, but VHS Hi-fi only has TWO channels of sound. Period. If you're talking about a Pro-logic setup with a center channel, and rear channel, that's simply a fancy method encoding the signal. With Prologic, the center channel is fed any signal that is identical in both channels, and the rear is fed anything phase inverted between the channels, while the left and right get what's left. A Dolby 5.1 digital track has the potential to be CLEARLY superior if done correctly. On the other hand, I'm thinking Tori's PA mix is mono. So, what that would get you, I'm really not sure. Hello everyone, I've just subscribed to the list so I hope that this is the right sort of post to make. I don't want to start off on the wrong foot :-) I'm trying to find an address for the UK fan club "Take To The Sky". They don't appear to be on the net and I can't find any reference to them on The Dent (which is unusual). Are there any other UK fans out there? Does anyone know the address and subscription details please. Thanks for any information you can offer. An excellent parody of rock stardom. 2. Marilyn Manson, "The Dope Show" (Nothing/Interscope). Love or hate Marilyn Manson, this was the kind of video that people couldn't help talking about once they saw it. 3. TORI AMOS, "Spark" (Atlantic). An underrated video that draws the viewer into a haunting sense of desperation, and the ending avoids the usual clichés. 4. Garbage, "Push It" (Almo Sounds/ Interscope). Another underrated video. 5. Beastie Boys, "Intergalactic" (Grand Royal/Capitol). A spoof of Japanese sci-fi flicks with the Beastie Boys' own twisted humor. 6. Natalie Imbruglia, "Torn" (RCA). This was one of 1998's few debut-artist videos that made an unforgettable first impression. 7. Black Eyed Peas, "Joints & Jams" (Interscope). A simple concept taken to a unique level. 8. Will Smith, "Just The Two Of Us" (Columbia). A moving tribute from a father to a son, and a visual treat celebrating love among families. 9. Madonna, "Ray Of Light" (Maverick/Warner Bros.). The editing alone makes this video a keeper. 10. Reba/Brooks & Dunn, "If You See Him/If You See Her" (MCA Nashville/Arista Nashville). This clip perfectly captures the heartache that comes after a romantic breakup, and the artists' acting is believable. PAUL VERNA Reviews/Pro Audio/Technology Editor 1. The same can be said for those who can rock. 3. Sinéad Lohan, "No Mermaid" (Interscope). Don't believe the title. 4. Billy Bragg & Wilco, "Mermaid Avenue" (Elektra). Proof that we really are divided by a common language. 5. Jennifer Kimball, "Veering From The Wave"(Imaginary Road). A whole new story. 6. Compay Segundo, "Lo Mejor De La Vida" (Nonesuch). From Cuba, with love. 7. Olu Dara, "In The World From Natchez To New York"(Atlantic). An old-timer who knows about blues, folk, Afro-pop, hip-hop and all that jazz. 8. John Lennon, "The John Lennon Anthology" (Capitol). Keeping the Lennon legacy alive. 9. Jeff Buckley, "Sketches (For My Sweetheart, The Drunk)" (Columbia). A bittersweet sampling of what could have been. 10. Tie: Madonna, "Ray Of Light" (Maverick/Warner Bros.); Bonnie Raitt, "Fundamental" (Capitol); TORI AMOS, "from the choirgirl hotel" (Atlantic). Embodying the elements of style. I'd say Tori left quite an impression with the public who bought the album in general, not only her fans!
