Well, i'm having a lot of trouble with a lot of girls from my school right now. They all hate me for no reason and talk about me behind my back and say it just loud enough so i can hear them degrading me. For me, Yes Anastasia is in a sense the same as cornflake girl. it's about girls and fighting and jealousy and petty problems ("thought i'd been through this in 1919") and how there are things that matter so much in life and how you have to be strong. ("we'll see how brave you are...we'll see how fast you'll be running...") i see myself as anastasia when i listen to this song. i cry all the time and feel so unloved and i know these girls live off this. they eat it up. they love to make me sad to make up for their insecurity. they all gang up on me and i just can't even describe how that feels. ("and all your dollies have freinds") i just don't understand it. ("girls, girls, what have we done what have we done to ourselves"....) i know i just need to ignore it but it's so hard. i wish i could just make it all go away....("well happy birthday her blood's on my hands...") And to Taluagrl1---you know how you have to read deeply into tori's songs?? just go with your instinct and your own personal belief of what this song means and i'm sure you'll write one hell of a paper!!!! love in tori forever Lauren *it's funny the things that you find in the rain the things that you find yes in the mall and in the date~mines in the knots still in her hair.....on the bus i'm on the way down all the way down all the girls seem to be......* ~~tori~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Dec 1998 14:20:28 EST From: Plugged98@aol.com Subject: Re: Tori Covers In a message dated 12/13/98 11:56:06 AM Central Standard Time, wombats@earthlink.net writes: << "Past the Mission" - Sarah McLachlan "Black-Dove" - Natalie Merchant "In the Springtime Of His Voodoo" - Madonna- think of what a hoot the club version would be! :) "Horses" - Paula Cole "Happy Phantom" - Cyndi Lauper...I think she'd do a really fun take on this one.... So I am an avid fan of Dr.Katz -the very amusing and "thought provoking" animated series on Comedy Central. There was a rerun at noon one day this week, where one of Katz's patients was sharing his thoughts as to why he thought pot should be legalized, except for use by physicians before surgery... In the little thought/day dream that went along with the story- it was very funny, the surgeon was peering at the guy, giggling...not remembering what he was supposed to be doing... and in the midst of the giggles and not remembering, he muttered.."yes anesthesia." Could it be?? A reference to "Yes Anastasia"? It was the way he said it, it was more like you would say Yes rather than Yes, . Am I crazY? Did anyone else see this? My roomie thought the same thing. Wouldn't it be absolutely wonderful if it was? Okay, bye. Just look at Matchbox 20. They finished touring a two or three months ago, and that song "Back 2 Good" was just released as a single not very long ago. Plus they pushed out like 5 singles. So I'd say it depends on the artist/band and record companies. I'm guessing that Tori will have at least one more single for this cd. And how did you come up with a half single? This is why. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the *real* Anastasia (daughter of Czar Nicholas). But in an attempt to make an extremely long story at least semi short.......she was supposedly shot and killed with the rest of her family and buried in a mass grave. Then, a couple years later (I believe) a girl (Anastasia) showed up on the doorsteps of a hospital in poor physical health and suffering from amnesia. Over several years she began to remember her identity and started to reclaim her name. The only problem with this is that by now, her distant Aunt (if I remember correctly) had been fully enjoying the 23 million dollars she had inherited with the loss of the complete royal family. There was a huge dispute over whether or not the new Anastasia was the real thing or not. Old nannies and childhood caregivers were brought in to ask the girl about memories only she would have (considering the rest of her siblings were dead) and the new Anastasia passed every test thrown at her. However, as things tend to go, the people with the $$$ are the ones who win in court. Anastasia was unable to (technically) reclaim her name (which included her fortune). She actually ended up moving to the states and marrying some millionaire. She lived in North Carolina until she died in 93. The point of ALL THAT, is I can see a direct parallel from the way women treat each other, to the way Anastasia was treated by her long lost family upon her return. Anastasia's family had been through a lot of trauma. And instead of that drawing them together, they let outside forces (money) tear them apart. I think women do this a lot. Sorry for such a long post. And if any part of my retelling is inaccurate ***please be gentle**** I used to be really into the whole story. I find it very fascinating, but I haven't kept up on things for several years, so my memory may be failing slightly. Tell me what you guys think ok! ~~Jolie ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Dec 1998 12:28:13 +0000 From: Objective Technologies Subject: Re: pictures from Mount Pleasant, MI to trade...
