I went to the August 19 show at UCF in Orlando Florida, and I saw so many people who had snuck in cameras and of course I decided not to bring one, but I was hoping someone got some pictures during the show. If anyone did, please please let me know. Even if they aren't the best of pictures. It would me so much to me. I think it really captures the breaking down that the song represents. It also calls to mind the image of her miscarriage that Tori speaks of, the way everything moved so slowly. All the "skips" provide this halting cadence, and each "skip", captures this emotion. I don't know how to explain it, almost like the moment before a scream, maybe? Anyhow...hopefully someone knows what I'm trying to say :) love, Reagan ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 05 Dec 1998 16:29:14 PST From: "Luna 17" Subject: Re: yes anastasia.help. >any help and i'll share my grade with you. >plus if anyone knows the last name of the royal family please let me know. their last name is Romanov...and, if you have time, Robert K. Massie has written two amazing books on the Romanov family, and they do include a lot of detail about Anastasia and her personality and such, as well as the proverbial search for the real Anastasia. I really think they would help because he writes in such a way as to bring history to life (big cliche, I know, but it's so true). There is also a children's book about Anastasia, I can't remember what it's called, but it would be easy to find. Written after she had a miscarriage, choirgirl marks a break from the usual Tori-and-her--piano formula ^Ö on the album's 12 tracks, Tori is backed by a bunch of other musicians and instruments, which adds to the album's diverse sounds. Although tunes like the sweeping "Northern Lad" and "Spark," the album's first single, sound pretty much like classic Tori, songs like "Hotel" and "Raspberry Swirl" show an electronica influence, while others, like the fuzzy, screeching "She's Your Cocaine" reflect the classic rock roots that Tori has shown us before. But Tori fanatics, fear not: Even with all choirgirl's innovations, some things haven't changed. Tori's vocals are still breathtaking ^Ö her vocal quirks, trills and soprano moans add personality to her unique music. Her lyrics are as obscure, trippy and intriguing as ever: "Spark" begins with the line, "She's addicted to nicotine patches/She's afraid of light in the dark." After the dark, heavy content of 1996's men-are-scum Boys for Pele, the more subdued and improved choirgirl finds Amos grounded and mellow, yet still drifting in her own world where she claims Vikings and choirgirls inhabit her head.
