He decided to listen to it one day, and was blown away (of course!). They met after that, and he did backing vocals on "Past the Mission" on UtP. It's a collection of songs. All of them, except for "Rubies and Gold" [1], are available in the other books of sheet music. The other books are: LE, UtP, BfP, ftch, Bee-Sides, and MTV Unplugged. Information on the books of sheet music, including what songs are in them and the ISBNs, is available in the Tori Resources FAQ. It's available by emailing resources-faq@rmta.org and asking nicely. :) You can get this book from any store that stocks sheet music. In my area, I've seen it at Tower Records and Media Play. Cover price is $30ish, IIRC. If they don't stock it, they should be able to order it for you. Basically it's a collection of sheet music to a bunch of her songs... they're divided into a few different "eras" of her life from the Baltimore years to the present (FtCGH). I don't have the book with me at the moment since I'm at work, but you can find all the songs (except "Rubies and Gold" or something like that) in previously released songbooks -- Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink, The Bee Sides, and From the Choirgirl Hotel. I guess I didn't really need this book since I have the other ones, but it has some pictures I've never seen and I wanted to find out what "Rubies and Gold" is. Honestly I don't remember the name of the store where I bought the anthology since I was visiting a friend out of town and she was sort of leading me around blindly, but it was one of those big chain stores that has CDs and videos and books and sheet music and stuff. It might have been something like MediaPlay... anyway, try looking around places that have sheet music. The definition of "asherah" > doesn't make as much sense as "ashre." A couple of points and I'll shut up. (a) We may never know. Much of what Tori writes doesn't make sense in a direct, linear and logical manner (though it does make *excellent* "sense" in other directions! ;-) (b) It is a religious song. Why would a pre-Levite Goddess which a significant portion of the "public at large" in the old testament payed *RELIGIOUS* hommage to have less significance than a phrase in Hebrew meaning "we are one" (or whatever the translation attempt was). Yeah, I know "ashre" has religious significance too, but what could be more significant that the *name* of a Goddess? I mean, they had Jesus, Mohammed in there. With Asherah, there's a trinity, even! Remember how much a deal that Thomas Aquinas made about the trinity in his Summa Theologica? (yeah a red herring, probably) (c) It *sounds* like "Asherah" to me. It made more sense to me that way. Does anyone know how the Hebrew word "ashre" is pronounced? Ok... this is fun. What other trouble can we stir up by divergent meanings on Tori's songs? I'll shut up now. My take on the book is that it's extremely attractive with a lot of unpublished photos, but it is not the best book to have. Here's why... 1) All the errors made in writing the music on paper were not corrected with the printing of this book. They just used the same press they used for the other books. 2) If you own all the other books, the only song that you don't have from this book is Rubies and Gold, and old song by Tori and her brother Mike. 3) Isn't Baltimore by Tori and Mike again? For lyric/word credits for Rubies and Gold they list both, but for Baltiore, they only list Tori. The same goes for the Beesides book. I always thought that was weird. So you should be able to find this book at any sheet music store. I bought mine at Sam Goody, but I know our conservative little sheet music shop has it. If no one has it, but they have other Tori Amos stuff they should definitely be able to order it for you. love, sonya =Thank you for your squirrel= ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 21:50:38 EDT From: Aeniana@aol.com Subject: texas tapes i want dallas desperately, and austin and houston too, though not as badly. i have nothing to trade, but i will do a three for one if anyone has an A quality of dallas. please please please. thanks devon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Oct 1998 20:56:13 -0500 From: "The Shermans" Subject: The Wolf/ Kansas City area?
