Now touring behind her latest, From the Choirgirl Hotel, the Cornflake Girl faces the daunting task of connecting on a personal level in impersonal areans. Amos acknowleges that she's not playing "somebody's living room" anymore. And while she is preforming a few acoustic number for imtimacy's sake, the shows are, for the most part, "a buckle-your-seat-belt kind of thing." "It's a girl on her piano that found some boys who she digs, and the wine is good," she says cryptically. Her concerts carry the heavy air of a church tent revival, with Amos' followers swaying, wailing, and showering the songstress with gifts, tears, and bits of their soul. She is more than a musician to them; she is a mother, a healer, a saint, and a shaman.^Ô On November 8th, 1998, the captivating pianist, singer/songwriter, Tori Amos will be performing at Ithaca College^Òs Ben Light Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. "FROM THE CHOIRGIRL HOTEL" is Tori Amos^Ò fourth album, following the multi-million-selling albums "LITTLE EARTHQUAKES" (1991), "UNDER THE PINK" (1994) and "BOYS FOR PELE" (1996). Those albums established the singer as one of the most strikingly talented songwriters around today. No one wrote songs, sang songs, or most importantly, played piano quite like the girl who had first sat down at a keyboard at the tender age of two and a half. Now, with the recording and release of her new LP, ^ÓFrom the Choirgirl Hotel,^Ô Tori Amos has come into her own and is performing better than ever. Tickets go on sale October 8th for members of the Ithaca College Community. Tickets will then go on sale on October 13th for the general public. "Rabbits"... anyways...Roseanne went on to ask her about her songs and how honest she was in them. Tori made the comment of how her dad didn't like father lucifer, and she said "why not, it's the only one's that not about you!" she also said how she's discovered lucifer's "a girl, wears white and drives an ice cream truck". They talked about RAINN and how it got it's start. Roseanne had 3 guests on that told of their rape experiances and it tore me up to see tori sit there with tears in her eyes, wanting to comfort these women. The 18 year old got to me, for i've been in her shoes. Tori then sang a beautiful non-band version of jackie's strength, and then me and a gun with roseanne and the 3 women standing around the piano. i really don't like roseanne's interviewing style that much, but she has a great tendency to throw the question out to the person and step back and let them answer it without interfering too much. over all it was well done ~~~becka ICQ#14314488 ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Oct 1998 01:57:18 -0500 (CDT) From: Simon Booth Subject: Just got in from seeing my first Tori concert!! I got in my place, #12, and was able to give her my letter and photograph *of a faerie from last years rennaisance festival if anyones curious* I worked 3 weeks on developing for her, and got to get about a roll of film of her AND her kick-ass puppet :) the show..omigod it was great from my 5th row.. i loved the Devlins, sort of a mellow, sad band, but pretty good.. then Tori came out.. for those interested, she had on a pair of maroonish-brownish pants, a chocolate colored long sleeved body suit, silverish sequined apron-thing, and black boots - here's the set list: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Precious Things (*20 sec grrrrrl*) iieee (*tori grabbed at her stomach during the 'sacrifice' part..does she do this every time?*) - -cute story about her father, when he asked if father lucifer was about him Father Lucifer HOTEL!! (*She played this song for me!!! In the letter i gave her at the meet and greet, i wrote to her and told her some personal stuff that had happened..you can guess from the song - I had asked her to maybe play it and she did!!! I was a little pissed off though that they ended the show in the middle of "Me and a Gun"!!!!! How aweful! I hope she got to sing the whole song while she was there. it would have been aweful if they said "CUT!". I'm sure they didn't, but I still thought the way they did it was uncool. ~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Carrie-Ellen Batcheller 14 McDaniel Dr. Box 2110 Durham NH 03824 http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/9523 trade page: http://wwww.geocities.com/RainForest/9523/tori.html Say hi (: ICQ #: 20170937 "So I thought I'd make some plans But fire thought she'd rather be water instead..." ~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Oct 1998 17:28:49 -0400 (EDT) From: Carrie-Ellen Subject: Quicktime Problem RESOLVED (: I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped out. it turned out I didn't need a different version of Quicktime at all, I just needed to go into Windows Explorer, click on the view menu, then folder options, and check "show all files". Then i could see all the files on the disc, not just the exe file. And once I double clicked on the files for the videos, they worked (: . Since I just bought a new laptop, and still fumbling my way around, but peoples' advice really helped. I only caught it from where the women started talking about their experiences, and I sat there and cried. My poor daughter (who just turned 1 on the 21st of Sept), didn't know what to make of it. Too much of it hit far too close to home. And "debbie" ...
