That subject line rhymed! No big fuss here, my fine ex-emptv vj...I just happened to think it was hilarious is all...I mean even *you* seem to find humor in the MTV phenomena enough to refer to it as "emptv" (which I used to have on a t-shirt by the way, did you design that? *wow*) I think we're all smart enough to realize the humor in the situation of an artist such as Tori presenting the MTV award for "Best Rap Video". I mean even Tori herself found the humor in it, and I think that's what most of us are getting a kick out of. ( I could never speak for all of us however, then I would actually have to feign leadership er somethin' ) I think they were actually trying to go for the contrast of music and presenters purposely anyways...that's what it seemed like to me, but I can't remember any specific examples, that's how forgettable it was. Oh, and I like Beck. I just happened to think that his "routine" on the show seemed moronic and forced, that's all. Otherwise, I find his humor dry and hilarious most times. Well, while I'm here I wanted to make a CD recommendation to everyone in case they haven't heard about it yet...I mean I didn't. I just happened to run across it in the "Miscellaneous" section of Circuit City. It's called "Live From the River Music Hall Vol. 1" presented by WXRV 92.5 The River. I just happened to pick it up and turn it over and notice Tori listed as doing "Marianne" on the first track. It is a compilation CD of many artists and it also says that all proceeds benefit RAINN. I tell you, I couldn't resist it solely based on the fact that not only TORI was on the CD, but also artists like Cowboy Junkies, Ani DiFranco and Suzanne Vega. But when I played it I was also pleasantly surprised by a lot of the other cuts on the CD like Big Head Todd & the Monsters "Please Don't Tell Her", Bruce Cockburn's "Night Train" and *especially* this great, great song by this singer named Francis Dunnery called "Too Much Saturn"...there is a simply *heavenly* acoustic guitar solo in the middle of it, I couldn't begin to describe...just pick this CD up guys, it's a winner! By the way, all these songs were recorded live in a studio, and sometimes with a small audience, so they're NOT all the original recordings just thrown together on one CD.
