I checked about one year ago, and they started at 80.000 german Marks for the smallest version (that is, the smallest grand piano) up to about 200.000 Marks for the biggest version (one of those plays Tori, I think).. probably you want those numbers in $, hm, I think it's about 1.4 Marks is one Dollar, but.. well can't say I'm really sure maybe it's a little more, a little less, but then again, that probably won't make the difference ;) Those things are really, really good, by the way :) (what surprise! ;) I got to play them at a music fair and it's just.. wonderful.. The Boesendorfer people looked a bit confused as I tried every single piano they had, but I just couldn't help it.. The keys got a little resistance (word?) before you press them down, and I had the feeling you can play them extremely precisely. In addition, the ones I saw had about five extra keys under the normal range of a grand piano. The best thing about them is of course the sound, but then, you probably noticed that before ;) By the way, I think Toriphiles should complain to Boesendorfer: They advertise with the famous people that play their pianos, but Tori is not mentioned! If I ever buy one, I'll them to... ;) See you, Nic ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 14:33:23 -0400 (EDT) From: joshw Subject: Bosendorfers Here's the original post: - -------------------------------------------- >Date: Sun, 30 Aug 1998 14:34:17 EDT >From: Katapilla7@aol.com >Subject: bosendorfer >does any one know how much one of this piano's cost I just thought of >wanting >to know today when I was rewatching the july 4th abc concert thingy. >Does anyone know how much one of those things are I bet they are really >really >expensive but just wanted to know the price range. >thanks >kat - ------------------------------------ I'm kind of a Bosey freak, having all sorts of weird things like Japanese and German Bosendorfer newsletters and random literature. I guess it borders on being a fetish (yeah, okay, fine...I did recently get a Bosey logo tattooed on my arm), but I just think it's an immense amount of passion. Anyway, the prices vary depending on the model. The Konzert Flugel (Model 275) 9-foot that Tori usually has generally lists (at least in '96) around $100,000 for new. The cream-of-the-crop Imperial Grand (Model 290) weighs in at 9-foot 6-inches (and 570Kg) and in '96 listed for $175,000. Besides the extra six inches, the Imperial also has 97 keys, while the Konzert Flugel (and Model 225) has 92 keys (as opposed to the traditional 88). These extra keys are all on the bass and are painted black. The "baby" that she had during most of this tour was either the 214 or 200. VERY AWESOME! I think everyone has heard the Lip Gloss Version already. Just added drums and a few effects, but very awesome. The Sticky Extended remix is very dancy and reminisicent of the P Widow remixes, but luckily, a lot of the lyrics are still in tact, so it isn't quiet as boring. Scarlet Spectrum Feels is the version they're playing after concerts, or at least it's the one they played after Charlotte's Tori show. It's VERY slow, but builds up with lots of effect. And it is true, there's a hint of goth here, but not exactly. Before hearing this, it would have been hard for me to imagine a slow version of RS, but now I see it is fariyl feesable. All in all, East West was very stupid for not releasing this in the UK. I love this single. I can't wait to bust my speakers to the LIP GLOSS VERSION. I just had to perk up here... The Bosendorfer Imperial Grand that Tori used to tour with measures a scary 9'10" in length, has 9 extra keys in the bass which lengthens the bass bridge and adds tone to the Bosendorfer's already spectacular bass, and takes 5 years to make by hand. This piano retails at $175,000. I'm not sure what model she's playing now. It is bigger than a baby.. Looks like a parlor grand.. Bosey makes 2 that I am aware of. A 5'6" and a 6'7"... I got the great joy to play a 6'7" once a dealer. I've never experienced anything quite like it. I've played a few concert grade Steinways that didn;t come close to a music room model Bosey. The 6'7" was on sale for $70,000... Now, the Kurzweil X2500 that she's playing is prolly the top of the line... They have several models with the same name... That retails at about $10,000. The end-user model is about $3,000. I own a Kurzweil PC-88 and when I saw the letterman show and saw that my favorite musician in the world chose the same brand keyboard I play.. well, I died... :) Am I obsessed?
