She would then be unable to play the smaller venues and would have to play stadiums instead. Imagine Tori at Giants Stadium?? YUCK! I thought Madison Square Garden was too big of a "room" to showcase Tori. Her genius, her beauty and her sensuality cannot be communicated in a huge place like MSG. I found it to be rather cold. It is better suited for the New York Knicks than for Tori Amos. I'd much rather see Tori get minimal airplay and remain less popular than the Spice Girls. This way, we can always get tix to her shows without having to scalp. What'cha think? I figure between 5pm and 6pm {so folks can go to the meet'n'greet if they're interested} is a good time to meet. This way, we can always get tix to her shows without having to scalp. What'cha think? >> Hi, I'm a "newbie" here... I've been lurking for about 6 months now, and I think I'm finally ready to come out of my shell (some of you know me because of other lists, or 'cause sometimes I personally reply to e-mails sent here, so "hi!"). I have a totally different perspective here on this issue, so hear me out, k? Honestly here, the majority of us probably became Toriphiles due to hearing one of her songs on the radio and/or seeing a music video on the television. Not all of us, mind you, but quite a few. I became a fan after hearing "Silent All These Years" on the radio in late 1996 (yeah, our radio stations are just a tad out of date, heehee). And if not for that simple play, I would have never heard of Tori, and I would never have gotten any of her music, and I wouldn't be the dedicated Toriphile I am today. So, for one reason, I hope Tori's stuff gets played on the radio. And I hope she makes money off of it too, 'cause she deserves it. And if she wants to play in larger venues, that's her choice. Sure, it might not be as intimate, but the behaviour of the crowds nowadays kinda ruins any Tori experience. And you can blame it on new fans all you want... you might be right. But we were all new fans at one time, and eventually, with the right teaching, they'll become dedicated to Tori as well. And one thing. Tori does not "owe the fans" to play in smaller venues. She owes us NOTHING. She never took anything from us except money, and that's money we gladly gave to her. And that's money she deserves. Tori's a wonderful artist, a wonderful person. I don't care if she played in an arena the size of Texas, just hearing her voice will always brings tears to my eyes. I guess that's partially because I'm a more unexperenced phile, but maybe some of you people back in the days of LE and UtP should pretend to have a second virginity and go to a Tori concert in a medium sized venue (like the Rochester show at the Fingerlakes Performing Arts Center). And if all she's playing near you is a larger venue, buy a ticket and don't complain... some poor people aren't getting to see her AT ALL this tour. Not everyone can afford tickets across oceans. (And for all you lucky people that can, what occupations do you work in so that when I get older I can be a groupie myself? Heehee.) So there. My little rant. But lay off of Tori, k? This is a natural evolution. It may seem sad, but think about it... not to get into a religious spat here, but if humans did evolve from monkeys, we're much better off, right? But monkeys don't have quite as many illnesses. There's always gonna be a down side to everything, but do you really expect Tori to play tiny 5,000 seat venues anymore? She's a larger artist now, and thank the gods for that! She deserves this! Fame has always been her lifelong dream, and if there's anyway she can achieve it, well, more luck to her! :) Love Always, Melissa http://www.geocities.com/Wellesely/Garden/1495 "This is cooling, faster than I can..." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 19:07:15 EDT From: Jade2412@aol.com Subject: MP3 Files Search?? Haas" Subject: Lyric Clarification Hi, I recently have been listening to the bfp CD a lot, as I tend to listen to one album for a while and move on. In the song "professional Widow" I am confused as to the lyrics at the end. I have asked a few people about this, and even posted to a few lists, and so far no one has been able to help. The lyrics that come with the CD as well as those posted on the web sites don't reflect what I am looking for so I hope that someone here may have the answer. At the end of the song she repeats the phrase "she will supply" several times. That's where all of the lyrics I have seen end. However at the very end of the song Tori says one last thing that I can't understand. It sounds something like 'and a hard crank' but I really don't know what she is saying or how that would make sense. Does anyone else have an opinion?? If you don't want to clutter the list with one line answers, please direct your responses to slhaas@nettaxi.com Thanks Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 23:17:44 EDT From: "Sonya Harway" Subject: Re: Pro Widow? <> I think it has something to do with mining...heaps of scrap land maybe? I heard again that Tori recorded FtCgH in Cornwall, which is supposed to be around where Camelot was. Now a few years back, I was living in Glastonbury Somerset, and hopefully all the Brits and Anne Rice fans on the list know about the Glastonbury Tor. It was pictured in Sting's 'If I Ever Lose My Faith' video, as his son goes to school right down the street. Glastonbury is maybe really near Cornwall, and I was wondering if the oh-my-god tower in the FtCgH map might have some type of connection to the Tor?
