Richard Handal (hi hon) has all the information pertaining to the changes in her Cornflake Girl Dance right around the time she assumedly got pregnant (end of September). But there was one telling moment at the beginning of "Caught a Lite Sneeze" - -- as she sang it at the Boulder Colorado show on the last night of her tour. (Dec 11 wasn't it?) "Can't stop this wonderful girl This woman now This mother in us..." It goes on from there, and into a bit of "Hurt" from Nine Inch Nails, and then on into CaLS. But the words, and the way she sings them, is really wonderful. But no, she NEVER announced it. Before and after the miscarriage (throughout December and January) she was claiming she was going to take some time off from recording, get a lot of rest, and not worry about music for a while. Who knows why she never announced it -- I know there are plenty of good reasons -- but it did save her from having to announce the miscarriage when it happened, which would have been a hard thing to hand over to the press. So I doubt highly, if she was pregnant now, that she would tell anyone in the media. I do agree she wouldnt be setting tour dates towards the end of the year, or talking about a college tour next year. Beth - -- "Lawless in heart, desperate in honesty." I didn't notice *too* much but there was one woman in front of me who I couldn't stand... she kept letting out these really long shrieks during songs... and she even yelled "I LOVE YOU TORI!!!!!!" at the top of her lungs during Doughnut Song. I mean, come on... Doughnut Song was a fairly quiet performance. Her stupid shrieking just kind of ruined it. And then there was this guy behind me who thought it was the funniest thing in the world to mock people who did yell "I love you Tori" "Tori you're beautiful" and all that stuff. So I had the woman in front of me shrieking her head off and the guy behind me yelling "I love you Tori" in a mocking sort of way... I hope Tori couldn't hear him because I thought it was kind of insulting. These were promo items from Atlantic in 95 or 96, I think. It's basically a sampler of Atlantic artists like Lemonheads, madder Rose, Yo La tengo. It has Cornflake Girl on it. There's nothing different about the mix or anything, but it's a nice item to have in the collection. There's also a CD of this, but I think the tape is the rarer of the 2. Second: Under The Pink promo posters. These are the Atlantic Promo posters for UtP, obviously. Approximately 24"w by 36"t, with "Tori Amos Under The Pink" across the top and a picture of Tori behind various glassware underneath(the same pick as the God US and Cornflake Girl Uk singles). This is the original, full color poster, not the black and white one that a lot of stores sell. They might have a few small wrinkles on the corner, but are mostly in mint condition. Third: Under The Pink Album Flats. 12" by 12" copies of the UtP album cover on the front, the words "Tori Amos" on the back. Printed on heavy card stock. In Mint condition as well. So, is anyone interested in trading? please e-mail me privately to let me know. No >one goes backstage unless Joel is in on it. Period. Debbie Andrews, who is the executive director of RAINN, first contacted me about this auction 2 months ago! At the time The Dent was to be the official site for the auction, which is DEFINITELY 100% supported and planned by RAINN. But I did not have the advance capability to create a live auction site, so they went out to seek corporate support and found Best Buy. But the whole thing was planned by RAINN, and I have talked to Debbie and the President of RAINN and they are very aware of this and deep into the planning. In fact, they email me and call me about it and check the auction site themselves. I have even gotten email from RAINN telling me how well the auction is doing. So I can say with absolute certainty that RAINN is behind this auction. That is disturbing that Joel does not know about it, and it is likely that they messed up somewhere in planning the thing. Since RAINN is based in DC and that is the first auction show, I am sure all the official RAINN people will be there and will likely make sure that everything works okay. But I do agree that it is odd that Joel was in the dark about this. My belief is that will be corrected soon! To be accurate, our gripe has nothing at all to do with Tori and everything to do with her audience. In fact, I posted a rather lengthy rant to this list just after the club-tour show at Chicago's Park West. I think we are all very aware of the power of Tori's performances, and it thrills many of us deeper than words can effectively describe. Believe me - I feel the urge to yell, whoop and scream as much as anyone else, but I exercise a little self-control out of respect for Tori and out of consideration for other Toriphiles around me. I don't mean to rag on the younger generation, but I when I have been irritated by an overzealous fan in my proximity, it is ALWAYS someone in their early teens. I agree too that smart-asses who imitate the zealots are just as annoying. It is strange that this seems to be a phenomena indigenous only to Tori shows. I am a frequent concert-goer, and during every other non-Tori show I have attended, the audience calms the applause, hooting and hollering once the performer(s) begin the next selection. Hey - I am all for yelling my head off between songs (that is why artists pause between songs, after all), but when Tori begins to play - I shut the hell up and let her play; and so should everyone else. So - I sympathize with you on this one, Jessica; and I hope your next Tori show goes much better for you. D.
