Pretty disappointing, considering I was anticipating a bunch of UK singles and French stuff I had never seen. However, on Bastille Day, I was bored out of my mind, so I went up to this bureau de tabac and saw this magazine Jalouse (which means jealous) and what is printed on the cover but TORI AMOS: CONFESSIONS. So I bought it, and with my semi-decent French, got through about three lines. It's weird reading Tori's words in French, and they called Y Kant Tori Read 'I Can Tori Read' as a result of poor translation, but it was accompanied by three beautiful pictures of her in a suit-looking thing and a white dress. And you get to see her hands up close (i just like that because they're the channel for a lot, being a pianist myself) which are of course, very cute. She was also wearing a very small cross necklace, which caught my eye immediately, b/c of her "shunning religion" and all that. But anyway, it was an interview, with a reporter asking questions and her answering, and they just printed that without a lot of padding. I've only translated the introduction so far, although I have a grasp on the rest (although if you asked me to write it now, I come out sounding like a complete moron and absolutely indistinguishable, so I'm going wait until I can sit down and take some time). So here is the little intro to the interview Tori Amos: Confessions An Icon Tori Amos is to art what Madonna is to business. An absolute artist, venturing to the edge of glass worlds about to shatter, architect of a mysterious and contrary universe, she represents the musician in the most honest form. Her quests have not always been about spiritual alvation. Meet with a virtuoso piantist, an authentic artist that one would like to see more often. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 03:52:31 EDT From: Bobdel123@aol.com Subject: Devlins? okay i woke up at like three o clock and i was bored so i turned on hbo (this is the morning). well what did i see to my surprise but the devlins on reverb on hbo. i just don't understand why all the people booed them at the plugged tour. i can't believe how good they were. well my question is are there any cds of the devlins on sale at the venues. and also are there any tori cds on sale at the venue cause when i went to lilith last year they had singles and all kinds of cds of sarah mclachlan and like jewel and fiona apple, and i wanted to know if the concert is a good place to get tori cds. well i also wanted to know are the devlins even going to the us shows with her, and if so are they going to be at the atlanta show on aug.17 i hope so they were awesome. well thats all. thanks for listening to me rant. o also if there are cds for sale could someone email me a list of what cds there are at the venue so i can get like a price range of what to bring to the venue and one more list of stuff that is on sale like shirts and stuff. thanks bob maybe i'm a witch lost in time ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 02:07:48 -0800 From: Darren Linder Subject: American Pie > American Pie > > She's never done the whole song (to my knowledge), just the last verse. Well, not exactly. The first track on the (excellent) boot called Last Temptation of Tori is 'American Pie'. It's only 2:10 long, but it's great! By the way, you're great, Nadyne. :) Darren Linder sleepy1@spiritone.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jul 1998 04:54:21 -0400 (EDT) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: Here. I'm pretty sure that all the lights and sounds equipment was Tori's. Same for all the scaffolding, and everything else onstage like the catwalks for the lights, etc. I don't know what thing on which people were standing you're asking about. You mean the platform in back where the house sound and lighting boards were? I don't know, but probably the venues have stuff like that kicking around. Maybe I'll find out for sure and report back. > Oh yeah Richard I absolutely loved the review you posted! Thank you, I really appreciate that. I was thrilled by the show. I have to say, I love meeting folks at the shows and everything, but if there were a way for me to be anonymous and do what I do while retaining any credibility then I'd do it. > You're like celebrities. :o) Umm, well, that's sweet, but this culture is already more celebrity-driven than I can fathom, and people who are on mailing lists being considered celebrities seems a bit overboard to me.
