UtP had Baker, Baker, BfP had The Doughnut Song, and FTCGH has Northern Lad. Moreoever, each of these songs is tremendously sad, bringing me nearly to tears each time I hear them. My question is: does LE have a "boy who got away" song on it? I haven't listened to it in so long I don't remember.... Were they together in a relationship? What's happened with her other relationships? Why would she write about him? CAN ANYONE HELP?! I've been a little behind in this topic of Tori..... Thanks. >> Well, according to the video cameras I have installed in her house, Tori has spoken to exactly 248 men, kissed 21 men and 3 women, and been with 4 and a half men. These are up to the date statistics and are completely reliable. Is that the type of information you are looking for? Why should any of this matter? I think there's more than one of these on UtP and BfP, first of all - and there are two kinds of these breakup songs - "Baker Baker" and "Northern Lad" are more of the "I left you, hope you're ok now" variety, and "Doughnut Song" to me falls in more with "Hey Jupiter", "Cloud on my Tongue" and "Tear in Your Hand" as the "I'm not quite over this breakup yet" variety. just me. tear in your hand is definitely the sad jealous "maybe she's just pieces of me you've never seen".. - -abbe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 20:54:40 EDT From: Freque79@aol.com Subject: Re: The boy who got away In a message dated 98-06-29 17:07:17 EDT, you write: << My question is: does LE have a "boy who got away" song on it? HyJptrCrsh ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 20:59:15 -0500 From: "Daisy Dead Petals" Subject: [none] It was said: . the lines that stood out the most were "i go from day to day, i know where the cupboards are, i know where the car is parked, i know he isn't you". it makes me think of how i get through each day, lately.....knowing everything trivial that i need to know (knowing where the knives and forks are kept, how to turn on rinse cycle) and also how he is not who he used to be. I can relate to this too!! Everyone that has felt this know that it is the most terrifying and unforgetable pain there is. It hurts so much that you are a wasted husk--numb. What song really spoke to me during my stint with this kind of pain was God. I had made my boyfriend into "God" and i was so angry at him for not "coming through". And then I was furious with myself for making him into this worshipped object. You cant *love* someone that you worship. Because if you worship someone, you dont take. You just keep on giving and then get resentful cuz you get nothing back--even if it was offered. I believe that you must give *and* take in love (reminds me of Doughnut song--another goody). Anyway, every line of God pertains to my relationship with this guy (although I assume that she was writing about the christian God), and the spooky thing is, i didnt have to stretch to make any connections. Downright errie. toris music is so universal and cathartic if one opens themselves up to it--even if it hurts sometimes...She truly is a "tree" that sends her roots out to tap into a current that many dont ever think about, but is close to the energy that we hold within us. Someone posted a beautiful analogy of Tori as a tree a long time ago...Does anyone remember this? i hardly did it justice...
