Not short ones, mainly some excerpts from articles that I have always found to be insightful Tori's life and music. Although I have only gone through two articles so far, the main reason I am letting people know is that one of those articles is one I mentioned on the lists a while ago. I said that I would copy it for people, but it turned out to be more beneficial to just copy the juicy bits (; . The article I talked about a while ago was called "The Hurt Inside", and is one of the longest and most personal articles I've ever seen on Tori, done in 1994. Among the many things she talks about in that article are the rape and having cervical cancer. I am almost through typing the excerpts, but there are a good amount already from that article. I will probably finish with that article in a day or so, then most of the good excerpts should be up there. Sorry to ramble, but a lot of people responded very enthusiastically when I mentioned the article. The interview as a whole angered me a little, because you can tell Tori was trying to not speak in metaphors because she knew the intended audience--Seventeen readers--wouldn't understand. And when she talks about what happened to Anne Boleyn, the editors put in little brackets "she was beheaded." They just assumed we didn't know! I hate having my intelligence insulted like that! She also looks in the picture as though she's about to vomit, but maybe I'm the only one who sees that. Anyhoo she says her favorite time of day is (direct quote coming) "six o' clock in the morning. It's the passing of the baton from night to day. I wake up to see it, but then I go back to sleep." I thought this was cute. I remember a couple of times in middle school when I spent the night at my best friend's house, we'd go outside in our pajamas to watch the sunrise because we were still awake. :o) Wow I'm only 15 now but I feel like I'm way too old to do that anymore, like I don't have the energy. This is a project in which you record a version of a Tori Amos song and contribute it to a compilation in which fans from all over the world do the same thing. Tori Amos Covered has been done once before, and with the new album out it should be very interesting what you make of the new material. Would anyone be able to make a Tori-ballad-type song of Raspberry Swirl? Could anyone make a rock version of Merman? Is anyone prepared to 'treat' a song like The Big Picture (from YKTR)? Or perhaps an acapella version of Precious Things? Hey, do what you like, do it on your own, or with your band, or with your church choir, your local street musician or the Caribbean Steel Drum band you see every day on the beach... Smack it onto a tape (or MiniDisc) and send it off to me! You can find more information about Tori Covered on the Tori Amos Covered Homepage: http://www.plex.nl/~mfgr/toriamos.htm The current deadline is SEPTEMBER 30TH.
