The RAINN hotline was plugged at the end of tonights episode of Promised Land. The episode itself dealt with the issue of sexual assault, thus the mention of RAINN was timely. Or am I totally nuts? And about Raspberry Swirl...well if you listend to the interview awhile ago on hte Radio, the one everyone was talking about, and you understood what she said about that song, let me know. I mean I thought I got the message but I wasn't sure....I would love to hear your comments, Tori Luv, Ingrid ps I am new to this list ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 16:54:15 EDT From: cystuhler@juno.com (Callie Y Stuhler) Subject: black-dove & blue dress about the blue dress in "Black-Dove". . . Didn't Tori say in a rare interview about her wedding that she wore a blue wedding dress because so many things in the world are the colour blue? (i'm paraphrasing). The song came before the wedding though. . . right? OK, so there's probably no relation between one or the other, its just the first thought that popped into my head when I heard the song the first couple times, just thought I'd throw this bone to the pups. . . knaw on it and see what you come up with. I'm not keen on analyzing Tori's amazingly encrypted songs. . . you'd think being an English major that I would! But I like to see what others come up with. You know, I still can't believe Speed Racer is dead myself. When I first got it I listened to it about 10 times in a row till it made me cry. Purple People does the same thing to me right now. But I have been listening to choirgirl (btw--what the issue with initials and all? It's choirgirl!) about 14 hours a day every day since Monday. See, I started writing my first novel and choirgirl is leading me through it. Liquid Diamonds is absolutely glorious. I agree completely with the comment that it is so *fluid*. But most of these songs are. When I hear the opening bars of iieee, I feel gentle waves flow against my mind. LD are the 4 footers. Pandora and Cocaine have a sunami or two. Raspberry Swirl *is* a sunami! And regarding the lyric book---did anyone consider that perhaps Tori is more concerned with people putting their ears to the speakers and just listening and not worry about what she is saying? I read the lyrics the first time through and then put the book away. I haven't read them since (altho' I still pursue the hidden stuff). This music is ear candy. The instuments dance together and her voice is merely one of the instuments. Yes, it is very sensual, everything about Tori is--but she herself says that these aren't really *her* songs, there are no real hidden messages in the words. You must find them in the music. This is from a person who has never cared for *just the music* and consider myself a lyricist, meaning I listen for the words, the melody is just there. This album has changed music, All Music, for me forever. Thanks Tori. Great lesson. :) Fairy Blessings, Beth ************************************************************* *We are all in the gutter, *But some of us are looking at the stars" *-Oscar Wilde- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *I gave my life to become the person I am. *Was it worth it? -Richard Bach- ************************************************************* *"Don't Dream It~ *Be It"- RHPS ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 16:04:49 -0500 (CDT) From: Simon Booth Subject: Re: GOTTA SAY At 10:29 PM 5/25/98 -0500, Douglas J. On FtCGH, Playboy Momma is definitely haunting, and mabye it's just me but I get a similar reaction to Black Dove. And I still hear something more every time I listen to the CD. Mutlifaceted, hearing through a new 'layer' each time.
