That means that 80% of those who saw her during her big tour won't be able to see her at the club tour. Were she only doing this tour in the US, I could see your point. But she is coming back around, and those 80% will have their chance to see her. So I dunno. I'm frustrated as well with the way this is looking. Two tickets per person? So me, my husband, and our Toriphile friend can't sit together. And I'm going to have a -bitch- of a time picking up tickets for folks from out of town who've asked me to pick up tickets for them. It's not like they can drive X miles both to buy the tickets -and- to come for the show. I heard a rumor, though {AND THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR, DON'T TAKE THIS AS FACT} that the tickets for the show here in Atlanta will go on sale 19 April. That's right, the night before the show. If that's the case, that'll help with the folks who are coming in from out of town -- getting here a day early isn't too bad. I repeat: that was only a rumor. Do not take it as fact. You just wouldn't be able to go alone and get four tickets yourself. At least I hope this is the plan. It was so she could hear herself, Caton, and the backing tracks for Talula. If she used monitors which were floor-based speakers when she was playing the harpsichord, they would have caused feedback through the harpsichord microphones before the point at which the volume would have allowed her to hear the music loud enough so she could keep her place. The feedback problem with the harpsichord mics was a major technical problem to be solved, and Mark and Marcel built a pyramid-shaped baffle arrangement to house the harpsichord mics on top of its soundboard, so as to minimize potential feedback-inducing volume from all the room sound. I expect this has now become ancient history, as I doubt she'll ever tour with the harpsichord again. These are what we refer to as "the good old days." ;-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 17:09:40 -0500 From: Beth Coulter Subject: Re: IDs (Philly only) At 03:21 PM 3/20/98 EST, you wrote: > >The Electric Factory isn't just 21+.....this is from their web page: > >"Occupying an old factory space, the two-tiered layout easily >accommodates all-ages, general admission shows with a full-scale >upstairs bar overlooking the stage and the floor." > >I've never been there before, but I think the upstairs bar is for 21+ > >Bye, >Christina > >the electric factory IS ALL AGES! i repeat, ALL AGES :) the bar is upstairs >and the floor is open for all....so, dontcha worry about a thing. > > As I posted before, you must read the FAQ for each venue. We have had semi-famous groups, probably Trout Fishing in America might be familer, book into our theatre. When an artist is booked (and this is pretty universal), the exec manager of bookings will handle the initial inquiry and contracting. Then it is presented to the board who has a chance to approve it. Then it goes to the Guild Officers, who arrange the theatre employees, (concessions, ushering, etc.) and when that is all arranged, then, and only *then*, does the box office become informed. What has been announced to us, on the net, is simply the first step. Don't call the Box office anymore. Get on the mailing list of the venue you want and give a call towards the middle of next week. Tickets won't run out. We know before anyone else. This is not going to be like the fucking Stones and you have to camp out for three days to get tickets. *Well, you can, but I won't* ;) Give the Box Office a break, give the list a break and just Chill. Nobody, repeat, nobody is fucking up and trying to rob us of anything. We are going to find out everything we need to know in enough time. Trust Tori to know who should handle these special arrangements for her. Give it time. We know when and where for the most part. By the end of next week, I would guess we will know how much and when the tickets are available. Be peaceful. This is supposed to be a good time, not one filled with anxiety. And if you don't see the club show, then enjoy the reviews and boots *boots? what boots?* and know that you will see our Tori probably next fall for a big tour. (My intuition tells me the Aussies are going to get her first. Just a feeling, nothing confirmed.) *Bethey off the soapbox* *and don't make me get up here again!* ;) Fairy Blessings, Bethey I'm OK when everything's not OK cause it's the Fairies Revenge they say and I have always been a Fairy *************************************************************** I gave my life to become the person I am. Were she only doing this tour in the > US, I could see your point. But she is coming back around, and those > 80% will have their chance to see her. the point I'm trying to make (probably badly) is that, at this point in her career, Tori is notcapable of doing club shows. Look, I'm sorry if that's what she *wants*, but there's a reason that Elton John, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, etc, don't play clubs either. The amount of people that want to see them way outstrips capacities. All this leads to is frustration on the behalf of the fans, and a LOT of unhappy people who will, after camping overnight for tickets, get shoved into a tiny room filled to more than capacity which will distract from the very show that they want to see, if they even got a ticket.. > So I dunno. I'm frustrated as well with the way this is looking. Two > tickets per person? So me, my husband, and our Toriphile friend can't > sit together. And I'm going to have a -bitch- of a time picking up > tickets for folks from out of town who've asked me to pick up tickets for > them. It's not like they can drive X miles both to buy the tickets -and- > to come for the show. I'm also frustrated. I have friends that CAN'T camp overnight for tickets and want me to buy for them. I can't. And Besides, nobody knows when they go on sale anyway. (DID YOU HEAR THAT, PEOPLE? NOBODY KNOWS! QUIT HARASSING THE CLUB PEOPLE! IT DOESN'T HELP!) *sigh* - -- Jason Bilsky fuzzbox@world.std.com http://world.std.com/~fuzzbox "You can still be a woman and wear make-up and a WonderBra." -Baby Spice ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 21:29:11 EST From: Cindergirl Subject: interview disc + well, i bought this interview disc w/fully illustrated book and it says 'limited edition' on the front. is it really limited, or are they just kidding?? and i have to mention...on the disc, as i was listening, when she was singing part of American Pie, that really struck me and almost made me cry:) but maybe that was cuz it was partly about kurt. anyway...one more thing. i was searching a cd store and i came across a led zepplin (did i spell that right??) tribute album and it had tori on there, but i didn't get it. could someone tell me if i'm missing something very important?? danke **tory** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 20:56:42 -0800 From: "Avernus_sad" Subject: Most emotional Tori song I don't know if there has ever been a post relating to this subject, since I'm pretty new to the list. But the way I see it with all of the tour talk going on, I feel that maybe we all could use another subject to talk about, and my question for all of you is: What is the most emotional tori song for everyone, what brings out the most inner emotions? For me this was a tough question, but I have to say CHINA. That song brings back so many emotions and feelings that it is unexplainable, well I hope you all reply. I remember driving to classes one morning and because of a certain situation going on during my life, when the song came on i bursted into tears. I've always cried with this girl. Everytime I hear it, I cry and especially the RAINN concert version, cause Tori *is* crying (god, to think of what all those tears meant in late Jan. 1997). Although I never really had a father, I really relate to the song about empowerment, allowing yourself to love yourself as much as others do. The ice has gotten thin many times in my life, but Tori always seems to have a branch to hold out to me with every girl I hear. Hey guys, good subject. Please contribute.
