I also got a Delerium t-shirt. In case you haven't seem the t-shirt, you can order it from A-List Comics in my town, Knoxville, TN, phone: 423-521-9000. Fischer" Subject: horses and trent With all this discussion of where horses, Neil, and Trent will show up on the new album, I think it is worth noting that Tori has called her first three albums a 'trilogy'. I think this could mean that none of those consistencies in the first three albums could show up on the new album. Maybe she will have some other people showing up in her lyrics. I just think that it sounds like the new album will be full of surprises, and we should not expect it to be a part four to the first three LPs. I don't know how rare it is because it's a bootleg, and you rarely get print information on boots. :) The company who made this box, UFO, has made a few other boxes like this that come with a book and a place to put the box. I agree, but Tori has always had underlying themes that I don't think will be contained within the "trilogy". And you know, this is *Guessing Games* everyone, keyword: GAMES. Ya know, just for fun. I've been kinda disappointed at all the *serious* replies when it is just for fun. We could all be wrong and laugh at ourselves, and give Tori a giggle Too, if she ever knew what we were doing. As EwF, we must retain our sense of humor, IMHO. I mean, without the humor, Tori could be just *morbid* at times. It is her humor, her little *funnies* while baring her heart and soul that makes her so magical. Ya know, like her little head wave in the intro to Leather I've seen her do. Painful song and she looks so *cute* during it. *sorry, silly soapbox again* So let's remember, when it's supposed to be for *fun*, let's have *FUN*! They took the RAINN advertisement off their website and stopped selling the brochures because of you--thank you. You have made a difference. Please do not reccommend IGG to anyone who wants to purchase any Tori merchandise. It is time we ALL take action. Box 3047 Shepherdstown, West Virginia 25443 Phone: 304/876-6818 Fax: 304/876-9414 Thank you for your support! ~RYan Sudick *****LETTER TO IGG***** Dear Allan, I have placed orders with Intergalactic Garage many times over the past four years. After surfing your website, I discovered your company was selling RAINN materials, in particular a brochure which can be offered free to both survivors of sexual assault and supporters of RAINN. After noticing this on your site, I immediately contacted RAINN officals and made them aware of the situation. They assured me that some type of action would be taken. I have been a collector of some rare items in my life ranging from baseball cards to compact discs. I know that when something claims to be "Limited Edition" or "Promotional Item" I should pick it up now because I may never see it again. However, in the case of IGG selling RAINN brochures, that is not true. They discontiuned passing out that particular item you were selling only to promote the cK Calvin Klein/RAINN T-shirt and the "Unlock the Silence" campaign. I have confirmed it with RAINN and they made it clear that they have plenty of the brochures IGG was selling for $10 a piece and would be more than happy to supply them to anyone who asks, free of charge. After discovering that IGG was illegally selling RAINN materials I made it clear to the general public because while this may not affect Tori fans directly, it affects Tori and her organization -- an organization that we all care about deeply. I posted a message that IGG was selling RAINN brochures on all of the Tori Amos mailing lists, Newsgroups, and websites. The suggestion to boycott IGG was brought to my attention--I agreed. With the support of many Tori fans, we have decided to offically end all ties with Intergalactic Garage. I recently received an email from someone who said they received a letter from IGG stating that you will discontinue any and all sales of RAINN materials and that you will take that information off your website. I am aware of this and I double checked it this past Saturday and it was no longer present. That's the first step. With the new Tori Amos single on its way to stores, you assume that many will pre-order it from IGG--however, with the boycott in effect, I doubt this is likely to happen. Many people I've heard from are glad you've discontinued the offer, but they are still concerned that IGG did not respond to RAINN's initial request -- that it wasn't until the prospect of a boycott that you removed the offer from your web page. Here is a suggestion to restore the trust of thousands of Tori fans and your customers : Since you have cheated RAINN out of the money you made by the selling of the RAINN brochures, why not make a sizable to RAINN? We held a benefit concert for RAINN at our High School last year which raised over $1,100--the largest amount ever raised by a High School in RAINN history. RAINN needs $1,500 to sponsor a Summer Internship Program. With a sizable donation of $1,500 to RAINN from Intergalactic Garage, this is sure to restore the trust of your customers. I would be more than happy to end the boycott if you make the $1,500 donation to RAINN. I will announce that IGG supports RAINN on every Tori Amos newsgroup, mailing list, and website. I will also lend my future support to your company and be the first to order Tori's new single from you. $1,500 is not too much to ask when you consider the hundreds of Tori fans that could be placing orders with you for the new single which usually run about $20 each. With the boycott in effect, where you stand now, there are going to be less than a dozen orders placed with Intergalactic Garage. By no means does this mean that we will not purchase the new Tori Amos single. Many companies have offered us a 10% discount and will give us far better customer service and lower prices than Intergalactic Garage. I hope you choose to do what you feel is right. Just remember, I have hundreds and thousands of Tori fans, all potential customers, supporting both RAINN and the Intergalactic Garage Boycott. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at (111) 111-1111. There is a preview in the April 1998 issue of Q Magazine in the U.K. * Tori is the sole producer of the album. It was recorded and mixed by Mark Hawley and Marcel van Limbeek, assisted by Rob van Tuin at Martian, Tori's studio in Cornwall. It was mastered by Bob Ludwig in Maine. * Tori recorded it in a 300-year-old barn in Cornwall, England during the closing months of 1997. She says she wrote alot of it "in the tropics." * Steve Caton played guitars on the album and will once again join Tori on tour this year. * Willy Porter also played guitar on one tune. * Stuart Boyle from a band called "Bullyrag" also played on one tune. * George Porter Jr. also played bass guitar on the record. * Justin Meldal Johnsen played bass. He is the current bass player with Beck. * Drummer Matt Chamberlain played on the record and and is also coming on tour with Tori. * There is a song on the album called "Playboy Mommy" (not Momma) Willy Porter described it as having a "smoky, jazzy guitar groove". * From the January 1998 issue of Alternative Press: Tori is pursuing an "old records" sound using techniques like live takes with drums and citing Led Zeppelin and Marvin Gaye as influences. * There is a club tour from April 18 to May 6 in the U.S. which will for the most part take place before the new album is released. * "It's a whole different work than the others I've done, and I'm working with players I've never worked with before. I'm cutting with drums from day one, which is a new one for me." Quote from an interview with radio station 99X in Atlanta on August 14, 1997. * "It feels like 'Earthquakes,' 'Pink,' and 'Pele' were a trilogy, and now a door has closed. A certain style ended for me. But as long as I honor wherever the music is going, whether or not radio plays it, then I think my audience will still be there. That is the most important thing to me." Billboard article from March 29, 1997. * Tori wants to be a better musician and a better player on this album (Alternative Press). What are the remaining rumors about the new album? (These may or may not be true) * The Take To The Sky fan club in the U.K. said in a newsletter during February that all the titles on the net for the new album were wrong. I have no idea if they were aware of the "From The Choirgirl Hotel" title when they made that statement. I am also getting a few anonymous emails from people who *insist* that the true title is being kept a secret. I doubt that Atlantic would report a false title, but this is something to be aware of. * The album reportedly features a more expansive, band-oriented sound than Amos' 1996 album, "Boys For Pele." There's a full band on a majority of the songs, and one song that is just piano, drums, and bass. * When the first U.K. single is released around April 20, it will likely consist of 2 discs, with one being a limited edition release. * Tori's next album may have a more tribal/latin feel with a lot of drums (at least on part of it.) * The album is a bit more commercial in that the songs are shorter. (???) * In an interview with radio station 99X on August 14, 1997, the interviewer asked her if there was a man in her life inspiring the new album. She said yes, and that she was very lucky to be in her current relationship. The DJ then said, "So happy pop songs coming from Tori Amos?" and Tori simply replied, "Shock and amazement. Sit down. Nobody will be interested, but yeah, I have joy in my life." However, in Alternative Press magazine she said she wants to bite people's butts with this new record! * Allstar Daily News said in early 1997 that the new album would be more "electric." Tori commented on this in an interview once, saying, "Whatever that means ... that could mean I've wrapped myself in neon. That means many things." * Tori quote from an August 1996 Ticketmaster chat, "When I think of instrumentation, I am beginning to kick around in my head a different approach to this album than to the other ones. I think I've really done the girl with a piano thing, so I think I need a new challenge now. If there's a way to use the piano without it being the center of attention, I'd like to do that. She doesn't feel shafted by that role." * During the 1996 Dew Drop Inn tour, small pieces of new material snuck into some of the shows and at the sound checks. Some of this may be on the new album. * Cooling will not appear on the new album, but could show up as a b-side. * Tori told the audience in Binghamton NY during her concert there on October 6, 1996 that the hotel she was staying at was the worst one of the entire Dew Drop Inn tour. She also revealed that she was writing a new song in the hotel and if it makes it to the next album, she will mention the hotel in the liner notes. There is a song on the new album called "Hotel", so who knows? Yours in Tori, Mikewhy - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael L.
