["Carol Robertson" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 23:26:15 -0800 From: Beth Winegarner Subject: Great stores It's a tough call -- to tell where I find all my Tori treasures, or to keep my secrets well? :) Up here in Sonoma County, there are only two places to get any kind of 'rare' Tori stuff, mainly bootlegs -- the Last Record Store has a lot of boots, and sometimes has singles although usually only the US-released ones (unless they're current UK releases). The other is In Your Ear, which has bootlegs, but the guy hides 'em behind the counter and you have to ask for them. Down in the San Francisco area, there is only one place to shop: Amoeba. This is where I've found most of my rare Tori items, including China, PGY, and the UTP/More Pink I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I also found a lot of other rare and out-of-print items. There's an Amoeba on Haight Street, and another on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. Hey- All of this talk about Tori treasures, I have decided until some other good site does this and shuts me down that I am going to set-up a Tori-buyers- map of the World... Well actually just a map of the US unless someone from overseas really wants to help me... Anyway I am going to create a site where Toriphiles can checkup on cities and states and find the stores that carry her stuff, I'll also include things like what they sell (boots, singles), addresses and whatever I can... But I need everyone's help. In about two days I'll start this crazy little site, after I get it set-up I'll send the URL to these lists. What I am going to need is for everyone to e-mail me the goodies from your area... I've tried to save all of the ones already given to the lists but it would be really helpful to resend them to me... Just give me a couple of days and I'll get something started. If you guys think this is a lame idea or if someone has already done this and I am just clueless, please clue me in and I won't need to bother... But if you think it's a worthwhile idea please e-mail and tell me so and I'll get the html crackin'. Thanx so much... Glad to hear you're moving to our area! As far as boots go, it's been a while since I've shopped for cd's in DC, but there are a *lot* of small places around that have hard to find stuff. You can check the phone book when you get here, just to see if they have a lot of Tori imports etc. I do all my shopping online now. Remember, I was able to get us all on the list 10% discount at Bang!Imports if you mention you heard about them from this list. They are really great and very fast. They have a lot of Tori stuff listed, but if he doesn't have it in stock, he'll email you and ask if you want anything else in its place. Lenny is the name of the guy you'll deal with and he's really on his toes. I don't have the url handy (new pc) but do a search on Bang!Imports and you should find it. Sorry to take up so much bandwidth, but I thought it would be good to let any newcomers hear about the deal! Here's what Lenny had to say about the deal: "Hi Stephanie, Happy New Year! Thanks again for writing. That's neat to hear that folks on the Precious Things page are saying nice things about us. Cool! That's sad that "Intergalctic Garage" place has been making people unhappy like that. It's kind of sad that a business that should be treating people nice takes advantage or just act like jerks like that. I appreciate each & every order & am more than happy to give the best service I can & do the best i can to get people thier stuff as fast as possible. So, sure, I wouldn't mind offering the same sort of 10% deal to people who mention the page or something like that. There hasn't been all that much stuff comnig out on her as far as live stuff, but there should be new singles & other stuff from the legit releases coming up so I'd be more than happy to offer the deal to anyone who mentions the page.I'm not sure how to go about telling people this but however they find out is fine by me. Anyway, You should have your CD very soon & thanks again for the suggestion & order! LennyS Bang! Imports" 12KGILBERT@gallua.gallaudet.edu wrote: > But now I'm going to grad school in DC. Just doing my duty to infrom any who wants to know about the Nasvhille area places to find *anything* Tori. These are places that I've gotten lucky at finding this.... In Downtown Nashville: - ---------------------- Tower Records: has singles/imports/some books possibly/posters Tower Books: a huge selection of magazines The Great Escape: I've found an issue of Take to the Sky for a buck there, and the God single on tape for a dollar. This store sells used items: cd's/vinyl/books/movies, etc. There is also a comic section that has alot of new comics and used for sale (wooo neil!) Which I think I may go to tomorrow to pic up the issues of Stardust that I lack. Safe Psych's: This place is hard to find downtown, because its above a coffe house, but they are HUGE tori fans and reall nice people too. They sell alot of tori cd's and imports. This is were I got the majority of my tori singles including my Pink Earthquakes box set. Antioch/Hickory Hollow Area: - --------------------------- Disc Go Round: sells cd bootlegs/video's/calendars/used cd's/live pictures (one of my fave places-where i've gotten pic's for tori :)) The Mall: there is this store in the Hickory Hollow Mall that is like an 'alternative/goth' type store, and they have tori shirts. Rivergate/Madison Area: - ----------------------- Disc Go Round: (same as above-has different selections sometimes) The Great Escape: (same as the one in Nashville, with small selection, but still a good store where I found the Rocky Horror Picture Show for 3 bucks on vinyl. - ---- There are a few other cd stores that are used, but i haven't been to those much, i've just listed the good things. I hope this helps you out some. Of course there are many other places around, but these are just the major ones that come to mind, you never know what you will find on any given day here. Danica One more thing....I don't know how many of you know about record shows, but usually they come into town. There was recently one here, and I spent 50 bucks at it on Tori stuff that I found. You can find out about these if you go pick up Goldmine Magazine. Also Goldmine is a good resource for finding vendors that offer mail order, and this is another place I've gotten some great tori things. - -- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/5612/torimp3.html - - Tori Amos: A Realm of Mp3's Website ....In my heart stirs a quiet passion http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/5612/glittermain.html All That Glitters....Is Sour (yes that be a homepage) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 13:57:59 -0500 From: Space Dog Subject: Tori's Marriage/Neil OK, does anyone know anything CONCRETE about Tori getting married??? A female lead in a cop show was considered something of a novelty back then. Her character was very tough and independent, but I have heard that she was abused in her marriage. Perhaps when Tori wishes for her best impression of her best Angie Dickinson, she is talking about putting up a public facade of strength in spite of inner pain and vulnerability. -Dave "Everybody that comes into contact with us, once they realize the Spice Girls are human beings, they get a different view of what we're about" - -Geri Halliwell [Ginger Spice] "I am...grates..full...grape..fruit" Bjork at Brit Awards ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 20:39:58 -0500 (EST) From: cm2248@cnsvax.albany.edu Subject: Re: Tori Treasures in Albany there is a very good store on central ave called the music shack. they have many many imports and hard to find stuff, and i'm sure they have lots of tori stuff...i know they have many large beautiful tori posters! one place i know of that definately has many tori boots is obsessions in ccm in clifton park. my sister got yktr there...i myself am a poor college student and can't afford these luxuries...(but i do have the talula & pw singles coming in the mail...yay!) ~carolyn~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 22:28:04 -0600 (CST) From: Jeannie Cook Subject: sorry well i have not been around in a while. i've been so busy, but i just can't bring myself to unsub to the list. so anyway i have missed the past few months of digests, which i'm sure have had tons of info about tori's new cd and tour. the little bit i know came from mtv, so that shows you how little that is :) so i was asking some really nice person out there who has a few extra minutes to email me PERSONALLY (jlc9@netdoor.com) and tell me if any of the club tour dates are known yet, as well as any of the actual tour dates. it is my understanding that she will tour before the cd is released in small clubs (but in big cities) then after the cd is released she will do a full tour. is this right? i've also heard she is going to have a full band behind her, which i am kinda skeptical about. anyway if anyone has time, please email me with the scoop. don't reply here, because i won't have time to read these. and let me thank you in advance :) i can't wait to hear the cd!!! i hope the band doesn't mess it up. thanks jeannie jlc9@netdoor.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 21:40:22 EST From: Cindergirl@aol.com Subject: Re: Tori = Real Audio In a message dated 98-02-24 06:17:49 EST, you write: << I was wondering if anybody has any files of Tori Amos songs that are RealAudio?? >> just today, i was going to ask the same thing. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 21:54:18 -0700 From: "Carol Robertson" Subject: Tori Stuff...:-) ?
