After having visited my favorite radio station, WHFS, (who are also good friends with Tori, since she's from this area, and they supported her early on, as stated already by Richard Handal), I learned that stations mainly have just the cd singles, not entire albums, in their collections. I brought the morning crew doughnuts and asked them to play my favorite, Doughnut Song, but they didn't have the whole cd, just the singles that were released. So, I don't think this will work too well with commercial radio stations. And HFS is *far* from commercial. A guy at one of the record shows mentioned that she was marrying her boyfriend of many years. Now, unless she's been seeing someone since Eric...but I dont see since '94, '95, or '96 as being many years ago. Anyways, my .02 Jenn. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Feb 1998 10:22:03 -0500 From: Stephanie Handley Subject: Re: Spacedog Now Campaign!!! I either misread or non-read your original post. Please accept my sincere apology if you were hurt or offended in anyway. What you did was right, trying to get the the bottom of a rumor. I hope that I am forgiven. To all: I apologize for sounding a bit rabid in my last post. Misplaced anger at people who are not on this list (well, maybe you are but I don't know it) who should know better but were stating these rumors as fact *both the marrige and Lilith*. As for my comment on the radio station: if my apology could be forwarded to them for accusing them of starting something. I did not know if this was the case and did not mean to sound as tho' that is what they deliberately did. I have known several stations within the Philly tri-state area who delight in starting rumors just for the publicity. I was not familer with HFS and their relationship with Tori and in no way want to defame them. As far as my feelings about rumors and Tori's public vs. private life--I stand on my platform that it is Tori's business until she decides to disclose it herself. Again, to all offended, I offer my sincere apology. And please -please- don't post here saying "I'm glad it's not just me!". You're clutterinig up a lot of mailboxes with multiple copies of what amounts to a "me-too" message, and it doesn't help clear up the problem. Plus, if folks are on the digest version of the list and the digest is taken up with multiple copies of each message, they're not stuck reading multiple "hey, me too!" messages all in a row. :) This public service announcement was brought to you by the number10 and the horrific class known only as "computer networks", which I am currently skipping. ;0 /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. You know, sometimes it's ok to wonder about what is going on with Tori (or any other celebrity), but you know, it really is her *Private* business. I have not heard one confirmation on this "Did she get married" thing. DJ's are no-Tori-ous for spicing up the day by plucking out a word and creating a sentence around it. Hey, this station is getting a lot of attention right now, right? A rumor is a rumor until it is a fact. A fact is anything stated by Tori herself or through her *official sources*. Anything else is rumor, and I really thought that we are on this list to sort thru' the rumors and find the facts. "I met this guy who knows this girl who said that..." is rumor only. And if Tori is getting hitched, it is not ANY of our business until she decides that it is. *personal note: what are you thinking? A marrige weeks before a worldwide tour and release of 4th album? Think about it.* Another rumor that is really getting to me, cause people are taking it as fact--Lilith Fair. The fact, repeat *fact*!, is that Sarah McL. was asked who she would like to play. Tori was one of the numerous names mentioned. From this we get MTVNews saying that she may be playing. from that, I get calls and E-mails about "How do I get more info on Tori playing Lilith?" and "Did you hear she'll be sharing the stage with (insert female singer here)". So this is interesting. A woman verbalizes a wish list and all of a sudden it is fact, cause MTV said it. My biggest desire for Tori is that she always is allowed to keep her private life hers and hers alone (stay away Amer. Journal and Inside Edition), and her fans respect that. She has freely given away more of her *real* self within her songs. Why rape her for more? Speculation. A dangerous hobby. Another $.02 towards the kitty. I know that at least the college radio station I worked for had -many- more albums than singles. When a new album was released, we got an advanced copy or three of it {look in the Collectibles book for all the promos of the full {or mostly full} albums}. I don't see why a commercial radio station wouldn't get the full album while a college station would -- but then, I also don't pretend to understand how record labels work anyway. ;) Someone else asked if Tori's cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit was released in its own right, and the answer is no. It's only available {legitimately} as a b-side. And while I'm here, about the current technical difficulties: In the future, if you're seeing strange things on the list, try to email someone else that you know is on the list and see if they're having the same problem. If they are, email our oh-so-nifty list owners {or "good cop" and "bad cop", if you prefer ;) } and let them know thta there's a problem. :) That way, if they happen to skip reading the list that day, they're still aware that there's a problem and can {hopefully} get it resolved.
