If you listen REALLY closely on Blood Roses, in the first half of the song, you can hear Tori banging her hand(s) against the harpiscord (or harmonium). It sounds really strange, I'll get the times written up tomorrow, but once you pick them out, the song sounds different. One other thing, I was listening to LE this morning and 'Winter' came on, and is it just me or do some tracks sound better than others? I mean the sound quality.. Tori's voice sounds too loud on some and the piano, compared to BfP sounds horrible. Well not horrible, but harsh, I dunno, it's probably just me, but I think Tori's did ten times better of a job producing than Eric did, alone. - --Kim "Actually I think the muppets have a pretty good grip on things." - --Ray Lesch "Intent and outcome are so rarely coincident." To be fair, most of LE was done with very little money in the coffers. Some songs were just recorded in Eric's home studio because Atlantic wouldn't give Tori any more money. Eric said 'we did those on the shortest shoestring of a budget that you could imagine. You couldn't even tie two shoes together with the length of shoestring we did that on' (All These Years, p45). Come BfP, Tori had sold millions of records and could therefore afford a nice piano and lots of nice digital equipment to record it on. It's a really good cd. I highly recommend it. > toodle, > Heidi I saw this on sale for $47 at the local CD store, and was wondering about the sound quality. I just got my first boot (other than YKTR) because I went to a south-bay-area (calif.) store and there was a bunch of 'em and saw a version of Etienne so I had to get it. The store was cool, cuz I asked about the sound quality, and they said, "If you leave your keys you can take a listen on one of those machines there..." Well I listened to "Tory Amos: Piano Lessons" and the sound wasn't so great but I just had to get Etienne live. I also listened to "Blood Roses" (briefly) but they had a bunch of them and I didn't have a *whole* lot to spend... What does anyone think of the sound / selection on Blood Roses vs. Fresh In Pink? > Date: Mon, 08 Dec 1997 12:53:56 -0800 > From: Shirley Ye > Subject: Kate & Tori > > This was posted in the Kate Bush newsgroup, rec.music.gaffa, a while ago. > I couldn't find it but, DJH was kind enough to e-mail me what he posted on > the Kate/Tori debate...
