A recent good one is "Dew Drop Inn Boulder", which has all of her last show of the DDI tour in Boulder as well as highlights from the night before. It's of very good quality. A good one from the UtP tour is "Tori and Her Mask", from Tampa, FL, in August 1994. A single CD boot should cost you $20-$30, a double should cost you $40-$60 {plus shipping, if applicable}. Jason maintains a discography of Tori bootlegs. It's a great resource, since it has dates, setlists, and gives you an idea of the quality of the disc. His page is at: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/alley/4370/tabdnew.html If you're looking to buy Tori boots, check out any small independent music stores in your area. You probably won't find them at a big store like Tower or Virgin Records. Also, check out any record shows that may make it to your area -- if you don't know about any, ask at that same small independent music store, and they might know. If you're looking for someplace online, I -highly- recommend the nifty folks at Rainy Day Records. You can email them at rainy@conch.net, or give them a call at (800)636-6166. I don't recall their website offhand, but that's okay 'cause they don't list boots on their site. :) Good luck! /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. Now, I'm probably just being paranoid again, and I just had a lot of coffee and instant noodles, so it's pretty likely the caffeine and preservatives are getting to me, but do any of you remember when one afro-american toriphile was asking about how most toriphiles seemed to be caucasian, and there was a response that said something about how tori's music just attracts certain TYPES of people and not necessarily certain races? (Yeah, I could understand, like how rap is listened to largely by afro-americans and latinos, but it's just the CULTURAL tendency). Anyway, to the point: do you think that Tori DIDN'T have this cultural/racial majority thing in mind when she said the thing about "mental elite"? I mean, duh! The Rolling Stones aside...this is my first posting on a list devoted to a women whom a frequently refer to as The Goddess. There is not much I can say to discrib my love for this woman and her music save the stroy on how I discovered her. I have been a fan of the writings and music of Leonard Cohen for years now, having a small collection of his works and CDs. I perchased a few years ago Tower of Songs and was amazed at the redition of Famouse Blue Raincoat by a women named Tori Amos. I, personally, had never heard of her until then but her voice...her voice pierced me as angelical. The piano a marvel unto it self. I have a not-so-secret love for piano and Mrs Amos heightend it with that song. That night I ran out and picked up a copy of Under the Pink at a second hand store, played it, and fell in love. After one listen I ran out again and baught Boys for Pele...a new release at the time. I knew of Little Earthquakes and, now broke :), had to wait. The wait well worth it, when I received it for my 19th birthday. This album would single handedly intoduce me to the form of beauty in music... My favorite singer Billy Joel introduced me hard, hitting perfection in pop, Tori to beauty in melody. She would change my music sense as in later years I would come to love Sara McGlauglan and Jann Arden and Jewle with a sense for the bauty with a certain FEMALE touch. Tori, however, holds firm on my heart. I am happy to be part of this list and am anxious to dig into the discussion of the goddess. My Tori Page is located here: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/2953/tori_1.html created late last year and has yet to be touched this year... Hello everyone! I'm brand spaken new to this list and as such I thought I would introduce myself. First and foremost I would like to say that I am deeply looking forward to sharing my appreciation for this wonderful music with all of you. Now, my name is Edward James Xavier DeRosa II, but for expediance you can call me Ed :) I'm 17 years old and was born in Cleveland, Ohio where I was also raised. I went to St. Peter Chanel High School. Currenly I am a first year student at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. While there I plan on double majoring in communications and religion. Personally, I have a deep appreciation for all types of music. My favorite songwriter is Jim Steinman (Total Eclipse of the Heart, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, and others). I'm what people call a Steinmaniac. Second is Andrew Lloyd Webber. I'm a HUGE musical theatre fan, and I got hooked on ALW when Steinman wrote the lyrics for his newest show. Tori is my third place person. I'm obviously not as big a fan as most on this list, but I still DEEPLY love and appreciate her music and again, I am looking forward to sharing this with you all. Can someone help me before I get > schizophrenic or something??? Hi Eileen. Although You later apologized for this post, I still feel like I need to say something. First of all, you are a bit delusional, i think, but we'll all forgive you. ;) I don't know how clear it is to Tori that most of her fanbase *appears* to be caucasian. I don't know if it matters to her. I'm going to go out on a limb by saying this: I think she's more interested in reaching people emotionally and mentally, not racially. So you have nothing to worry about. I mean, I think that was her point. People with hangups, regardless of age, race, gender, preference, religion or whatever, are just not going to want to hear what she has to say. Period. I think it's clear that "mental elite" does not equal "white" in her book. Mental elite means just that: Mental elite. :) It has struck me how such a huge portion of her audience *is* white/ Anglo/ whatever you want to call it. I myself am Hispanic. Cuban-American to be exact (I was born in the US, for anyone who cares!). I am certain a good portion of the audience at the Miami show last year *was* of Hispanic background, although it's really virtually impossible to tell. We don't all look like Juan Valdez or speak in broken English, you know! :) I don't know why it *seems* like she appeals more to Anglos. You don't hear much about her touring in Central or South America or Asia (just for the record, does anyone know how often, if ever, she's visited these parts of the world? Richard?) I wonder why? I refuse to believe there are no EWFs out there. Anyway, it's late and I'm rambling. Just one more thing before I go. Are there any other Hispanic EWFs out there? I'd like to hear from some of you! :) Anyway. I'm off. Night all. Here ends my pointless post. ;) Yvette. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Definitions are limiting. Limitations are deadening.
