I always thought of it being the other way around, someone wants Tori. "Maybe i'm just the horizon you run to when she has left you there...." At least, i think that's the line. I've been looking for it on the web but i can't find any sites with lyrics. Anyway, i always took it to mean that there's this guy who really admires her and thinks she's the best and that she has all the answers to everything, and he could never reach, just like if you run after the horizon it'll always be as far away as it was when you started. And i guess it's probably her choice that's she's the horizon and won't let anyone near her. And i guess he probably doesn't understand why she's so far off. So he's looking to her for answers, but she can't give him any, which was what i thought of the apple green ice cream line. Ice cream can melt in your hands, and you know it will, and you think you can predict what i will do, but you can't. I never thought of the song as an invitation, more as a message telling someone to go away. It seems like a pretty annoyed song. Of course, now that i think about it, there could be lots of entirely new interpretations. Hmm. I'll have to think about it some more. :) -=-laurie _____________________________________________ been thinking to myself "and if a life's not long what matter does it make if there be favorite songs in my head when we go down to the well?" -=-pixies!!! ____________________________________________ My Whore code (v. 2.0) WhZz4 LSkGoG hR+(Br-)s+++ b64/63 B0E4# a20- sF7M252- K7+0bhlmOprX QZ v74s oTO X31 w5AT r4I- E- p0f*v7#g*s{87}C D3z7---!#a H!++p18usPa9 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Nov 1997 14:30:41 -0700 From: "Raven's Call" Subject: Re: Re: .....hi...... I wish she knew how much she affects so many by just saying even a "hello". I mean, I was raised in an abusive home. I was hit for singing or playing the piano too loud. But since the age of three, I've always known that I wanted to perform and compose. But between everything, I started to doubt whether I was good enough to perform or get a record deal. I went and saw Tori ofr the first time at the Dew Drop Inn in Dallas (I'd only been a fan for about a year). I cried through the performance. It seemed that my whole self wanted nothing more than to be up on stage doing what she was doing, singing and playing the piano. It was hard to make it through the concert without ripping myself apart. I met her afterwards. I thanked her. She asked what for. I told her that she had made me see that I could make it and I could perform my songs with my stories. She smiled and gave me a hug. I told her I would see her again. And this is the part that I will take with me to my grave... She looked me straight in the eye and said, "I know you will. When you're ready, you'll find me." That was something I'll never forget. However, since it doesn't give a catalogue number, I'm not sure -which- import China single it is. According to _Tori Amos Collectibles_, there are the following China singles: 1) A7531CD -- UK CD single with China, Sugar, Flying Dutchman, Humpty Dumpty. 2) A7531T -- UK 12" single, same tracks as (1) 3) A7531 -- UK 7" single with China and Sugar 4) A7531C -- UK cassingle, same tracks as (3) 5) 85905 -- German CD single, same tracks as (1) (slimline case) 6) 85755-2 -- French CD single with China (edit) and Flying Dutchman (edit) 7) 85755-4 -- French cassingle, same tracks as (6) I'm currently stuck with Lynx as a web-browser (can you say "text only"?}, so I may be missing something, but I didn't see anything on their site that indicates a catalogue number. I'm -guessing-, based only on price, that it is (6). (6) isn't as rare as 1-5 {I'm not sure about (7)}, which is why I'm guessing that. However, the only way to know is to either contact Music Blvd and ask 'em for the catalogue number {or show me where it is, since I might've missed it} or to order it. I can't imagine having anything even close to a complete collection! There's just so -much- stuff out there: import singles, promo stuff, etc etc etc . . . If Paul Campbell can compile over 200 pages of Tori collectibles, I don't stand a chance. ;) /nad {who doesn't mind trying to come close to a complete collection -- who needs groceries? ;) } *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. I don't know, for 11 bucks it might be worth it to take a chance Again, according to _Tori Amos Collectibles_, this single was released in January 1992. "Me and a Gun" was her first release in October 1991, Sielnt All These Years {the re-issue of MaaG} was released in November 1991. China, Jan 92; Winter, Mar 92; Crucify, Jun 92; SATY with all the limited edition stuff, Aug 92. {I skipped any non-UK single for the above.} No specific dates are mentioned, just month & year. Music Blvd may assume the first of the month if no information is given/known for the sake of their system. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. Hi, All: Here's something I posted to RDT on March 2. This is one of my beefs with the Collectibles book. There are no exact dates listed for releases. Many of them are listed in this referenced article. Why were they not included? Consistency of format? Goofy. And just F.Y.I., y'all, I don't keep up with prices hardly at all. ======== Some recent discussion here prompted me to check the release dates of the pre-LE singles and EPs. These dates are according to the April 1994 issue of the U.K. magazine Record Collector. All of these are the U.K. releases on the east west label. (Dates in British dd/mm/yy order.) YZ 618T Me And A Gun EP (SATY/Upside Down/MAAG/Thoughts) 12" 21/10/91 YZ 618CD Me And A Gun EP (SATY/Upside Down/MAAG/Thoughts) CD 21/10/91 YZ 618 Silent All These Years/Me And A Gun 7" 11/91 YZ 618C Silent All These Years/Me And A Gun cassette 11/91 YZ 618T Silent All These Years/Upside Down/MAAG/Thoughts 12" 11/91 YZ 618CD Silent All These Years/Upside Down/MAAG/Thoughts CD 11/91 A 7531 China/Sugar 7" 1/92 A 7531C China/Sugar cassette 20/1/92 A 7531T China/Sugar/Flying Dutchman/Humpty Dumpty 12" 1/92 A 7531CD China/Sugar/Flying Dutchman/Humpty Dumpty CD 1/92 And then the album Little Earthquakes came out in January 1992: 7567-82358-1 LP, 7567-82358-2 CD, 7567-82358-4 cassette.
