Okay, Daisy-melanie--don't go birthin' no bovines! :-) John Wolfe told us on this list early this year that Tori was mentioned in Noah Adams' book titled Piano Lessons. Noah Adams was (and still is from time to time) the host of the afternoon National Public Radio news program All Things Considered, here in the U.S. He took up piano lessons at age 50 and wrote of his experiences. John said that about 1/3 though the book, Noah Adams mentions Tori, and then there's like a 2 page transcription of an interview from All Things Considered. It is still possible to call the NPR Order Center and order a tape of the interview on the phone by using a credit card. One can also arrange to send them a check. They don't have written transcripts back that far, only tapes. Here's how to order: http://www.npr.org/inside/transcripts/ Tapes $19.95, plus $2.95 S&H = $22.90 Transcripts $11.95, plus $2.95 S&H = $14.90 [Not available for this show.] All Things Considered - Now starting at 4pm on the East Coast. Box 4370 Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20775-4370 Please include specific program name, broadcast date and subject/topic. <>====<> <>====<> <>====<> <>====<> <>====<> The date of the ATC program in question is March 28, 1994. Tori was also on NPR another time or two, but I don't have the dates for that stuff handy. Maybe someone else will post and let us know. It's wonderful that all that stuff can simply be *ordered*. How civilized. Thanks to John Wolfe for telling us about this one in the first place. :-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 1997 21:45:46 -0400 (EDT) From: Jenn0312@aol.com Subject: Re: Tori and the burning piano i was listening to all the live songs on the "hey jupiter" ep today, and listening to tori talk and interact with the crowd made me realize what exactly makes tori so speshul. tori *cares* and it's obvious. every note she sings on record is so full of pure and raw emotion, you can't help relating to at least how she's singing something, if not the words...and seeing tori live..wow..it's like nothing else. she listens to each individual person in the crowd...i wasn't lucky enough to actually get to meet her (the bus whisked her away right when i would've...ikky bodyguards...), but just being in her audience was a truly moving experience. i was brought to tears many, many times that evening..still am thinking about it, and it's been over a year now. these are the things that set tori apart from other artists' in the genre (i.e., sarah mclachlan, fiona apple, jewel..)..it isn't so much the music (which is wonderful) or the words (which are incredible) it's the woman herself... oh, and just so no one thinks i'm putting tori down, i personally think she's a much better artist that the 3 ladies i mentioned above...not that i don't like sarah, fiona, or jewel, because i do..they just aren't tori..no one is..'cept her. and that's why i love her so! torihugs, ~*jenn*~ ~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*~:*~:*~:*~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~ *:~*:~*: "We are all faeries living underneath a lily pad" ~ *Tori* ~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*~:*~:~*:~*:~*:~*:~*~:~*:~*:~*:~*~:*~:~*:~*:~*:~*: ~*:~*:~ Get into the Faerie Ring! http://members.aol.com/jenn0312/tori.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Sep 1997 21:07:02 -0700 From: dilbert@metro.net Subject: re: Pianos! >I asked Tori about the burning piano shot.
