I wrote another message to Novia a week ago, but haven't heard anything yet. Judging from e-mail I've received, RDTers really miss the list, so I'm starting up a temporary list called Thoughts Right Now so that everyone will have a place to get together. The current plan is that it will only be active until Really Deep Thoughts and Chris are back in swing. It is not intended to "take the place of," just to "fill in the blanks." So if you'd like to join, here's what you need to do. Send a message to: with "Subscribe Thoughts" in the message body To post, send messages to: Thoughts Right Now This list is digest only. Post just as you would to RDT -- same rules apply. Anyone (except SPAMMERS) can post, but you will only be able to receive the digests if you are subscribed. I will be putting the list together manually, just as Chris does, but hopefully I can keep up okay. I hope you'll come and talk. Okay, i know that this message is a little old, but i haven't been here for a long time. Anyway, i wanted to share my good news with all on the list. I recently found an original -autographed- cassette copy of YKTR for $5.99. I know that cassettes are not as valuable as cds or lps, but i was just so happy to find an original copy of it, because previously i'd only had the bootleg that was mentioned. I put the tape in my pocket and carried it around all day, and took it out to giggle, and then i made my friends listen to it, and they hated it, except for one of them who kinda liked it, and it was good. So now it's with all my other tapes of Tori stuff. I'm so proud. -=-laurie :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Now that you know who you are, what do you want to be? And have you travelled very far? I also was thrilled to get the bootleg on "Pacific" records, and found that the bonus tracks were very worthwhile as well. My sons (4 and 8 years old) are absolutely nuts about "Happy Workers", and I've considered playing it where I work (at a software engineering department, where our team name when competing at a company event was "The Mortified Drones" - fitting in a high-pressure department where you're never given enough time to "do it right"...) > I put the tape in > my pocket and carried it around all day, and took it out to giggle, and > then i made my friends listen to it, and they hated it, except for one of > them who kinda liked it, and it was good. My favorites are Etienne (one of my all-time tori faves), Floating City, and Pirates. The others tend to feel too much like someone's idea of what will sell a big-haired chick to a pop-audience. If they don't stock it, they should be able to order it for you. My local Barnes & Noble sometimes stocks it, and several music stores in my area usually have one of the sheet music books available. These are the sheet music books available: Little Earthquakes Under the Pink Boys for Pele The Bee-Sides MTV Unplugged Note that the material in the MTV Unplugged book is just compiled from the other books, with the exception of "Over the Rainbow". http://www.amazon.com lists all of the sheet music book, and their prices look pretty good. {They also list some of her CDs, which surprised me.} I haven't done business with them, though, so I can't speak for them. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. If the arrangements for Cool On Your Island and On the Boundary were toned down to allow those songs to breathe, it would be easier to get more enjoyment out of them, as well. It certainly isn't simple to tell that from the way they were recorded for YKTR, but the songs themselves have merit, I feel. At least we got some glimmer of what Cool On Your Island could be on the tour last year. Now, if only some of that stuff would come out on official releases. (I can dream.) Be seeing you, Richard A.
