This video is nearly impossible to obtain unless you're an Australian Toriphile who was lucky enough to get a copy during the Australia leg of the Under the Pink tour (or if you have lot's o $$). I've seen copies of these for sale on the Internet for $40-60 and I recall reading some postings on the 'dent saying that people who ordered the video never received it (can someone confirm this?). If you've never seen the videos for Under the Pink and Boys for Pele (like myself) and you're desperate enough, this site < http://www.ee.ud el.edu/~lau/Tori_Amos/tori_amos.html > has snippets of Hey Jupiter and Caught a Lite Sneeze (along with ton's of other stuff). Also want to try here < http://staff.interaccess.com/red/tsection.html > for more cool stuff. "Crucify" was the first song I ever heard by Tori and was just very drawn to her music after listening to it on the radio, but the songs that just REALLY did it for me were "Girl" and "Precious Things." #2. I am a sophomore at USC, majoring in psychology and work part-time at a library. I am also a volunteer counselor on a Rape and Battery hotline (this was very much influenced by my deep respect and admiration for Tori). ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 1997 21:52:07 -0400 From: Alley Angel Subject: Re: 2 Polls At 05:02 PM 7/17/97 PDT, you wrote: >Poll # 1. I was out with my (now ex-)girlfriend and a few friend of hers, and I heard `Crucify' and `Leather'. I then decided to try to find more of her stuff, and got LE and UTP a month or two later. After hearing the LE album (especially Girl, SATY, and Precious Things), I was completely hooked. > Poll #2. What do you do? Student? Studying what? Working? Doing > what? Actually it was seeing Tori in concert at Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville KY in July 1992 that turned me into a Toriphile and made me say "I need everything!" The first song of hers that really grabbed me though was, interestingly enough, "Upside Down", which was the b-side to the "Silent All These Years" single. I could not get that "chatter chatter chatter" out of my head! > Poll #2. What do you do? Student? Studying what? Working? Doing > what? My official title is Systems Engineer II, but that is simply a complicated name for computer programmer/analyst for a company in Louisville KY. I have been working there since 1989... To "pay the bills", I used to work at a motorcycle shop, then I moved - now I work at a piano bar part-time. In my non-existent spare time, I play piano (a LOT, my parents got me a grand last August), violin, flute, and percussion (mostly mallet). I also love fencing, field hockey, swimming, kayaking, and horseback riding. Great to be an EWF! The song stuck with beacuse is was exactly how I felt, I was 19 and in a very bad relationship. Later that year I saw Tori on tv and she said something about "not being Silent anymore so she couldn't write about that". I searched for the cd but could not find it. Instead I found the Crucify EP and "Smell like Teen Spirit" did it for me. A very angry song from a womens point of view. For the first time in my life I realized that I was angry and not crazy. I eagerly awaited the arrival of her next albul UTP and after hearing it I learned forgivness and most of all to forgive myself . And now I am not Silent anymore either. ANYWAYS...... 2 I am 24 and I work in the subscription department of Conde Nast magazines, not to thrilling. I also work at being a mother to a one year old boy who is also a big Tori fan(he smiles and claps his hands when her songs come on) I am excited about this poll, it's good to know that a diverse group of people can come together and get along. I am now dedicating "Toodles Mr Jim" to Mr Gianni Versace.
