I just finished the B-Side '96 interview - good stuff - thanks to all
for suggestions!  Am I the only Tori newbie on this list?

I like the "aim" approach with room for insertion of personal
interpretation/meaning.  Yesterday I found myself unable to stop humming
Father Lucifer in the supermarket.

I have the LE video with the live stuff - that's what *really* got me
hooked, seeing the songs come alive.  Has Tori ever mentioned plans to
release an official live CD or video (or better yet, fan-club-based
official recordings with complete set lists and between-song chit-chat)?

I still skip this track (and MaaG from LE - too intense!) - but will put
it back on.  BfH seems more like a mood song, and I just haven't been

is *that* sound just before 'Beauty Queen' starts?  It sounds like a

Okay, I have 2 things today...

1. I had traded some stuff with someone on the Fiona Apple mailinglist, and
on the tape, after the Fiona Apple stuff, there was a couple songs off a
Natalie Mercahnt tape, and then about a minute of silence, and then who
starts up but TORI!!!!! The setlist was:

Losing My Religon (this is the SCARIEST tori song I have EVER heard)
Precious Things
Little Earthquakes
Cornflake Girl
Silent All These Years

Does anyone know what concert this comes from?

And also, I am wondering what to get my friend for her birthday. She plays
the piano amazingly, so I was trying to figure out wether I should get her
the MTV unplugged songbook or the sheet music for Winter... Which one is
better? (I'd probly get her both of them eventually, because one for her
birthday and one for christmas)

been consistently way above standard going prices for these things. we 
have fabricated a sort of "price faq" which is only meant as a guideline,
on rmta. it is on the rmta homepage. Also realize that in the last 
auction there, everyone's emails were posted with their bids. 

also, I've been having some troubles getting an order filled with them 
for a long, long time. I think they are very backed up, and maybe their 
email is crashing a little bit since notes I sent supposedly never got 
there. just another little warning.

Most likely this is from the K-ROCK Almost Acoustic Concert back in
December. (Is that how they spell K-ROCK, or is it K-ROQ? I can never
remember...)

Hi:

Andrea Norstad, who's been a subscriber to the Really Deep Thoughts
mailing list on the internet since she had just turned 13 in 1994, was
asked to write a piece about her 12-year-old friend and fellow Tori fan,
Ana Duarte-Coiner, who died in the TWA Flight 800 tragedy, for CNN's
website. It's now up, and can be found at:

It is beautiful. It has direct Tori content, although I can't say that it
would make a lot of difference in general. It would be touching anyway.
Although what Tori did to memorialize Ana on the tour last year was
beautiful and caring, and it touched many of our lives in deeply personal
ways. One day I'll tell Tori how much it helped some of the people who
knew Ana, although Tori did know it was important when she was doing it. 
Tori is wonderful. 

Here in North America, tomorrow night (Wednesday) on the one year
anniversary of the TWA Flight 800 tragedy, the Late Late Show with Tom
Snyder is planning a special show to remember TWA Flight 800. Ana had
called that show not long before she died and had spoken with the guest,
Coolio. I'd bet money that the tape of this is replayed on this special
program. 

Anyone who wants me to email them a copy of the text of Andrea's piece,
just let me know.

That's the Leslie speaker starting up. She had it on tour with her, even. 
I found it helps tot take one into the record. A Leslie is usually used on
organ, or sometimes guitar or vocal. It's a speaker inside a wood cabinet
with slots in it for the sound to come out. The speaker inside the cabinet
spins on what would be thought of as its edge, and the speed of the
spinning is variable. The performer can usually control the speed through
the use of a pedal.

Yes, it would be.  Tori covered R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion".  It, as 
well as her original song "Butterfly", are available on the soundtrack to 
"Higher Learning".  It's still commonly available new for around $15, or 
you might get lucky and find it used for less.

Actually, I would recommend neither - I have the BfP songbook and the LE
songbook, which are both _great_, but I must say BfP is much better,
although if you really like Winter it's in the LE book.  Cover prices: 
BfP - $24.95; LE - $21.95 (paperback for both).   Just my $.02!  Good
luck, and I hope she likes whatever you get her!

Uh, someone previously recommended neither.... Well, both are a good choice, 
but if your friend doesn't have the B-Sides yet... that is the best. So it 
doesn't have the purty photos of Tori like the others, the artwork is 
*fantastic*. Pauline Stuckey has such a great talent... which brings me to a 
question...

Does anyone know anything about Pauline? Her work? Realationship to Tori? 
Etc?
