I'm sorry that this isn't exactly Tori-related, but I have a problem! I have downloaded 3 Tori movies (.mov format) and when trying to play them I can hear them but not see them! Not all .mov files can be played with the ActiveMovie thingy of Windows95. But, all .mov files can be played with the original Quicktime player from Apple, available at the Quicktime homepage: http://quicktime.apple.com That player can play all .mov files. I do not know if there are updates for ActiveMovie at the MS homepage. Hope that helps. :) Fonty. - -- Fonty Online: http://members.aol.com/Fonty/index.htm The Worshipper´s Gateway: http://members.aol.com/FontyMMX/index.htm Chasing Tornadoes - an introduction to Tori Amos: http://wwwstud.uni-giessen.de/~s3045/chasing.htm - ---- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 21:46:53 EDT From: sylvia4@juno.com (Amber S Phinney) Subject: TORI TAPES if you're interested in inexpensive Tori tapes or if you have a large collection and would like to trade, send mail to DreamShelf@aol.com and request the list... I She made another page saying that she was only kidding about that whole Kicking puppies thing... That favorite things to do page and all were just jokes... She was serious about the animal activist thing though--she got many pages/links devoted to it. That, and domestic violence/ violence towards women. She only said that kicking puppies thing because it went along with what people thought she was supposed to be like... >think she was abused as a child (some of the stuff on child >abuse, and her own writings), which could explain a lot of her >hostility. She's entitled to her opinion, but I *do* wonder Well, she explains her life in another one of her pages... actually, several pages. I think I pretty much checked them all out:) >what has inspired her Tori hatred -- perhaps that Tori gets >such a following that other musicians don't? just a thought... No--Nirvana had a huge following themselves. She just doesn't think tori's serious enough. From what she's seen, or heard, her lyrics are nothing but gibberish that have no meaning, and that people are just a bunch of fools who want to go looking for meanings in it all. Plus, she goes for the harder stuff, more alternative/mainstream music, so Tori wouldn't catch this girl's affections based on that... I think I have an image of this girl after reading the other pages. she is not a bad person. Just very spicey, to say the least. And although I totally disagree with what she said about tori, and how much I still love tori and her music, there's nothing anyone can do to change this chick. and I wouldn't want to. Let her be strong! Let her make this stand! She is woman. Just like Tori. Granted, Tori may be a bit more for peace, gentleness, and goodness, but this girl is another side--she's the "Take no crap from anyone" type. She's just another ingredient needed for the stew. She's someone to be admired. I guess you could call me a relativist... or something... But that's how it is... And I understand where MikeWhy is coming from. Yes, I was angered by what she said at first... But I tried to see where this was coming from... and ya know, there are times when you just gotta let things slide--just roll off your back, especially when there's nothing you can do about it. What she's saying may seem hurtful/harmful, but it's not. Really, it isn't! I mean, if you are a _true_ tori fan, you're gonna be a tori fan no matter what anyone else says!! It shoudln't matter! I mean, have you heard any news of Tori getting all up in arms about this page? Do you honestly think she would? No! She'd say SO WHAT? WHO CARES?? That's what I'm saying. It's just another social-type thing. It's insignificant (though it isn't fun to read/listen to sometimes)! Any questions/comments? Hey--go for it! That's all I have to say right now... And anyway, if you look at some of the things some of those people wrote, can you really blame her??? >people have. I mean I also have friends who don't care for Tori's music, Tolerance is what would bring about peace. If people had more tolerance, maybe there would be less fighting... for one thing leads to another. One punch deserves one in return, and then another, and another, and so on... If people could just learn to let little unimportant things just roll off like water off a duck's back, then there would definately be less fighting around, and more energy being wasted on what's really important. >and I love them, but if they started saying ugly things about her, I would >say something back to them...strongly. When you believe in something and >love something you defend it. I realize in an age where Howard Stern in If you truly loved something, then you wouldn't care what others said about it. you'd continue to love it just the same. I mean, her music has helped me put things in perspective, helped me get through many hard times, and begin to see myself for who I am, when I hadn't the foggiest clue. and I wouldn't let anything change that--nothing could change that. People can say what they want about it, and it won't matter, because I know how it is.
