I believe, strongly, that Tori's girls are getting older, bigger, more complex... the girls are becoming women. BFP is my favorite album, although what i listen to most sling shots back and forth... BFP is also, i believe, as far away from selling out as a musician could possibly get... it is an album not for the main stream... Whenever someone tells me that they "hate" Tori Amos, and then go on to tell me about BFP (never having listened to any of her other albums) it is usually because they did not understand it. I've recently met another Toriphile here and she told me that the first Tori record she ever bought was UTP, she listened to it and thought "I am not ready for this yet..." and bought LE instead, loving it. A year later she returned to UTP and loved it as well. Alot of people dislike BFP because, perhaps, they are not ready for it... its not naked, its not even impressionism... it is a modern literary work, and a giant step for "popular" music. I just checked out MikeWhy's wonderous web site, and it says something about a woman who has a teeney web page dedicated to disliking, and ridiculing Tori.... Mike doesn't list the FTP, though. Does anyone know it? I am very curious about what this person has to say about Tori... Kristina PS-I just finished "Shes Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. But Pele is like Mount Rushmore--there's just so damn *much* of it. It's hard to even *begin* to deal with it in one bite. It requires a lot of discussion and background knowledge. Thank goodness for the internet. I'll go, now. :-) More another time. He is, of course, like everyone else, entitled to his opinion. Apparently you don't think so. Was that at the root of your argument to begin with? I get the feeling it probably was. Personally, I think _BfP_ is a masterwork. But I can totally see how other people would think otherwise. I don't get into screaming arguments with them about it -- I've got too many other, more worthwhile things to worry about. +==========================================================================+ | Meredith Tarr meth@smoe.org | | Boonton, NJ USA http://www.smoe.org/~meth | +==========================================================================+ | "I'll take implosion over dissolution any day" - Emily Bezar | +==========================================================================+ ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #98 ************************************
