However, she IS a role model, and to those of us who have truly felt the impact of her songs (The first time I heard Crucify was right after I had placed a shot gun in my mouth and pulled the trigger--I didn't know it wasn't loaded. Believe me, she's done more to heal me than anyone), to those of us who have felt her this deeply, she IS a Goddess. Maybe she doesn't quite exist in an ethereal plane, but she's enough of a Goddess for me. Peace, Love, and the Goddess-- Mark "Butterfly, they like you better framed and dry..." -T.A. I just threw some packets and recieved the last 67 messages from the list. Close to 90% of 'em were rants about drugs. Guys, I'm not trying to sound anal or anything here, but can't you just give it up? That thread is --SO-- tired. I, for one, don't really care to listen to it... the discussion is repetitive and pointless, and it seems to focus more on what you feel about drugs rather than anything remotely related to Tori. That can be a really charged area to focus on and I know that there are people out there who will argue on forever and ever and ever. That's fine with me, but can't it go on somewhere else? Please? There. I asked nicely. And notice the lack of opinions, assertions of "fact," specualtion, etc. relating to drugs in this message. This is an unbiased message. I'm not adding to the heat. I just think it's a little excessive. Thank you. branen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Mar 1997 13:07:10 -0600 (CST) From: Jeannie Cook Subject: YOU PEOPLE ARE MAKING ME CRAZY i don't post much here. i joined these lists to find out new things about one of the most talented musicians i've ever heard. your opionions about her peronal life are of NO INTEREST to me, and i think a lot of people share my view. i feel lide an idiot for even contributing to this topic, b/c i think it should be dropped. regardless of everyone's OPINIONS about tori's life, please remember it is her life. this judgmental, hypocritical, closeminded view that some people are taking on this goes against everything tori is about, or at least everything i think she is about. if she were to read this series of opinions on her personal life, i think she'd tell all of us to **** off. (i wish she would anyway) because whatever she does in her personal life is her business. she never promised us taht she would live according to our rules. the most beutiful think about tori, in my opinion, is that she dodnt live by anyone's rules. i think that we, as her fans, should allow her that. What's next...a discussion on her sex life and how it is right/wrong? i can admire a person for discovering his/her own belief system and moral values in life and sticking to them. thats great. but tori's life is not your life and i think she is doing a damned good job of living her life, she doesnt need anyone from this list speculating about it. she provides us with amazing music, music that allows us all to see ourselves a little better, music that takes us places inside ourselves (and if we're lucky, a little inside tori too) that we've never seen before. tori has given me so much of myself back that i had sold a long time ago....thanks to tori and a few other people i've managed to reclaim my life as my own. i think if you are going to use tori of a role model of any sort, use her to realize your life is your own and no one else can take that away from you. tori's life IS her own, and that is worth ALL our respect and admiration, not gossip, judgements, or condescending comments. any of you who has gotten anything at all out of her music, you owe her at least that much - the respect she deserves and the right to make her own decisions about her life w/o a group of people (most of which never even having held more than a 5 min convo with her...if that) passing judgement about it. i have my own feelings about drus, and their use, and their misuse, which i will keep to myself. if you want to discuss such things at length, find a mailing list who's purpose it is to do that. now that i've rambled on much more than i wanted to...and contributed to a topic i dont even find worthy of this list...i'll go now jeannie jlc9@netdoor.com http://www2.netdoor.com/`jlc9 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Mar 1997 16:59:01 -0500 (EST) From: RAiSnGhUrL@aol.com Subject: Re: Ummm.... drugs? what? Correct one joins a list to find things out about a group/singer......however...everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Actually I like hearing what others think. It helps me keep and open mind. I learn from what others say. =) I think people on this list have alot to say and I would hope that they would say it. If the list was all technical and business-like and all we talked about what when the next concert was or wether or not someone has the "Hey Jupiter" single-the list would get kind of boring. I like the laid back......talk about what you want attitude. I don't know what other people think on this issue......but those are my views.... It's a chilling collaboration with Tori Amos, whose stunning vocal range becomes the centerpiece of shimmering effects and some big beaty bass." - David Weiss for Alternative Press, April 1997 issue they gave IMA 4 fingers... out of five. love & Tori, amber ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #87 ************************************
