(btw- they already have the re-print of the "all these years" book instock!). so, now you all know. so, any of you in the US, you can stop your search now.... it won't be out until january. also, it has a list price of $19.95. the girl who mentioned she bought it said she paid $24.95.... you must have bought the import pressing. also, to the girl who bought it, are you in the US, and if so, what store did you get it at? - -rusty (agentorange2@juno.com) POE has a mailing list! for info: angry-psychos-request@smoe.org web page, "Disconnected Modem": http://members.aol.com/TAPList/modem.html "the future is a slut. she promises herself to everyone..." -poe my POE pictures are up at: http://www.enter.net/~husselman/poe.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Dec 1996 05:59:52 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Handal Subject: Record shows (was Y KANT) James said: > Record *SHOW*? > > I've never heard of such a thing. What is this about? They're often called record conventions in the States, and record fairs in Europe. Kinda like a farmers market arrangement on a weekend day except with predominately used (rather than new) records instead of fruits and vegetables. I'm not sure how you'd willfully find out about them in your area unless you bought Goldmine or another record collector magazine. I used to get the Record Finder auction newspaper and they had the listings for record conventions in there, but some of that was oriented toward 78 rpm discs and even cylinder recordings. If you know of a local used or collector's record store in your area they may have some flyers for upcoming record conventions. Get on the phone and call around, otherwise, buy a copy of Goldmine and sit down with it for a while. Many people collect records--of all types imaginable. I dont believe she was paid to do it though, however she did receive a bit of help from her brother on this one and it was dedicated to the college basketball team... She even got a Citation from the Baltimore mayor...Neat. But see, we all think this is so different, but its not unusual for any of us who have/heard stuff from YKTR....is it? Neither of them sound like what shes blessing us with now, do they? - -K ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Dec 1996 17:40:33 -0600 (CST) From: MaLjaMiN Subject: Re: baltimore >Hehe. I'd still consider it quite unusual, just very commercially, not something a 17year-old would tend to write unless there was a theme contest. YKTR was more 80s pop about love and other poppy things. This was, like... easy-listening. I didn't really expect it to be anything like what she does now though. Wait, I know.. it's like something you'd see on a commercial for some Baltimore TV station with all the newscasters smiling and shaking the hands of old people.. actually I suppose that's a more small-town tv stations. No wait, it's what you'd hear in Balt. city hall elevators.
