Hi, As a result of terrible misunderstandings locally, I am offering the Tori Amos Covered CD for a few weeks more. Please note the changes in payment. For those of you who don't know what this project is, it is a 70 minute compilation of fans covering Tori Amos in various musical reworkings. This CD release is a once-only item, which will also be strictly personalized, so you know you have an original item. Now, in support of the project and its sales, a new homepage has been made on http://www.bart.nl/~mfgr/toricovered.html . Until the 1st of August several soundsamples will be available, enabling people to listen to pieces of the covers. All samples are in 8 bit mono, to save space. Details on how to get the CD are available on that very homepage. So please get on the Web and take your chance. NOW!(Email for info) ------------------------------ From: mfgr@bart.nl (Marcel Rijs) Date: Tue, 18 Jun 1996 20:29:46 -0100 Subject: Tori Amos Webpages Project Hi, Here's an idea that came floating into my mind today... I was surfing some Tori Amos Webpages today, and came across loads of pictures at ftp.uwp.edu, loads of articles on Fairy Tales and loads of soundsamples on The Banana Kingdom, when I suddenly came to realise how hard it is to collect all the Web information available on Tori Amos. I was thinking how nice it would be to have this information off-line, more cheaply (for those of us with BIG telephone bills) and stored away neatly, instead of taking up lots of PC diskspace. Am I the only one with this 'problem'? Here's my idea. If everyone who is currently keeping a website or -page about Tori Amos would send me their pages and images and soundclips, I could make a CD-ROM out of all that. This CD-ROM (which can be made for a reasonable price - I've seen $40) could then comprise all those pictures, articles, and yes, even those huge Quicktime-movies at rever. (I only need Baker Baker and Cornflake Girl now). I am willing to put some effort into this, I have the time and I think I can change online links from one website to another into 'local' hyperlinks. Smaller pages can be sent to me by e-mail, others would have to send me floppy's or even Travan backup-cartridges. This is just an embryonic idea, please let me know if you're willing to cooperate, and if you have any remarks I am very interested in hearing them! (BTW - this could change into a copyright discussion; but I figure that what's available on the Net can be put onto harddisks and CD-ROMs by private persons anyway. I am not interested in making money off this - it is strictly some sort of service. For myself, but also for other ToriFans. So please don't start a 1Mb-a-day discussion on this mailing list about copyright but direct any queries about that to me and I'll set up a mailing list about that subject if need be. ) Regards, ** Marcel F G Rijs - "Conan the librarian" ** Internet: mfgr@bart.nl CIS: 100276,2176 ** WWW: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/marcel ** Order the Tori Amos Covered CD.. June 26th PrimeTime Live ABC 10:00 pm * Unconfirmed. In an interview with KPNT (FM105.7 in St. Louis) on June 12th, Tori said that PrimeTime Live had been following her around St. Louis. The D.J. and her spoke about how the suspected focus of the story was how Tori Amos fans are 'enamored' by her. [The interview says how Tori wishes she could sit down and have a cup of tea with some of her fans, she loves 'em so much. Ain't that sweet?] June 27th Tonight Show NBC 11:30 pm * Unconfirmed. In same interview, the D.J. mentioned "You've got the ... Tonight Show on the 27th"? Tori replied, "I think so. I just go where they tell me." The D.J. replied, "Well, actually the guys from Atlantic Records gave me this." **** Interesting Tori News: According to the interview mentioned above, Tori has a song on the soundtrack of the motion picture "Escape from L.A.". They did not mention *what* song was on the soundtrack, however. Tori also speaks about the Tornado Mix of 'Talula'. "I was eating linguini one night when BT, who is a great dance remixer ... with a fantastic bottle of Chardonet and we were in London, and he said to me, 'Do you realize what the Internet can do?'. And I said, 'Well, a little bit. I know there's information about anything. He said, 'No. Do you understand that there are pages where people chase tornadoes. I said, 'No?'. He said, 'Yes, people literally do this.' The real -- not the Hollywood verison. And I said, 'Come on, Brian, you're not serious.' And he said, 'I am.' And I put down my linguini and started singing to him at the table, 'He's chasing tornadoes -- I'm just waiting calmly -- chasing ...'. And he said, 'What is that?'. And I said, 'I don't know.' He said, 'Well, let's do it.' I said, 'It must go into 'Talula'.' So we ran to a studio that night at two o'clock in the morning with our bottle of Chardonet and recorded it ... And here it is." Also, Tori said that she preferred the "Talula (Tornado Album Version)" on her single over the "Talula (Tornado Mix - Edit)" on the _Twister_ soundtrack.
