This is a 70 minute compilation of fans covering Tori Amos in various musical reworkings. This CD release is a once-only item, which will also be strictly personalized, so you know you have an original item. * What is Tori Amos Covered? Tori Amos Covered is a compilation made out of versions from different fans in Holland and America, of Tori Amos songs from her Little Earthquakes/Under the pink era. Heck, even one Y Kant Tori Read track is covered! The idea was to make a collection of creative covers, as a tribute to the musical genius that is Tori Amos. * Why this CD release? A tape version has been available since April 1995, and will be available for some time. However, the tape version revealed some sound quality problems, as well as a few tracks which people found less appealing. This CD version has therefore been created to enable the most avid Tori Amos fans to get a rather unique collection of high-quality sound recordings, with no eventual loss of sound quality! * It's a bootleg, right? No, it's not. Firstly, I wrote Sword & Stone, Tori's music publisher, to get permission to even do this project when I started all this. I got the permission, provided it was a non-profit production. Hence, this is strictly a non-profit production. Secondly, I am paying an amount per CD for the copyrights to STEMRA, the Dutch organization which takes care of these things. The CD's will be made by a commercial CD pressing company here in Den Haag, so I guess they will be making money on this, but I certainly won't. Some measures will be taken to prevent bootlegging, or at least, make it recognizable. Every CD made in Den Haag will bear a name on the disc, namely the name of the buyer, so every nameless disc is recognizable as bootleg. (I must admit that my knowledge of copyright law is very limited (if non-existant), but STEMRA assured me this was all I had to take care of. If anyone knows differently, speak up, and I will take care of things.) Finally, I am a private person, not a company. I have no-one and nothing to finance this project, except for my own daytime-job. * So, how can I get "Tori Covered"? If you're not Tori Amos (who got her CD totally free on March 15th), you will have to pay $36 for each disc you order. When not living in Holland, it's preferable to send a check for the appropriate amount. Some people have sent cash, and it has all arrived, but you can do it at your own risk only! If you want to order one or more CD's, please e-mail me, and I will send you the correct address to send the money to, as well as a complete tracklisting. If you order & send in your money ASAP, you will receive the CD during the month of June! (When e-mailing, please state the mailing list you read this. But that's just to satisfy my own curiosity...) It's probably been said, but exactly who is covering, other than fans. How were they chosen and why? I'm guessing it's something like.. amateur musicians? Or can we expect more reknowned performers? Just curious. - -- du ub pq qjT " u_ u " Tjp pq du ub dM~W~Mb .d b. qT N^8_N Tp .d b. dM~W~Mb qM Mp dBbdBb TI T ^T IT dBbdBb qM Mp q p P T JBb _. ._ dBL P T q p . . . . ~TBbodBT TBbodBT~ . . . . `~` `~` MaLjaMiN Josh Sutterfield joshu@umr.edu http://www.umr.edu/~joshu ------------------------------ From: Adam Thomas Heath Date: Thu, 25 Apr 1996 17:48:06 -0500 (CDT) Subject: Tori Covered $36.00 for a CD by a bunch of fans covering Tori songs? No way, I don't believe it is worth it. ------------------------------ From: Your Momma Date: Fri, 26 Apr 1996 00:53:59 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Tori in Columbia The show was excellent (4/24). I was suprised that it didn't sell out but it was pretty close as far as I could tell. I didn't understand why they weren't sold out, I had my tickets within the first 5 minutes when they went on sale. Anyway, she looked great, she sounded great. I was REALLY happy. The concert confirmed for me a lot of things I'd heard, like that she'd begun almost all songs with beauty queen/horses and ending with hey jupiter. So here's the set list for the Columbia show: Beauty Queen/Horses Crucify Icicle Blood Roses Little Amsterdam Cornflake Girl Doughnut Song (very cool different beginning. i was very much moved.) Springtime of His Voodoo Leather Precious Things Not the Red Baron Caught a Lite Sneeze (She blew out the microphone on this one. She was singing extraordinarily high during the move from harp. to piano and we heard MUCHO feedback. she was really awesome about it and began again where she left off.) Angie (I was shocked personally) Talula (Bass blew up and she stopped during it, didn't continue with it) Flying Dutchman (so she played this instead at the request of one very loud individual on the 1st balcony) Me and a Gun (I don't know what to say...incredible) Encore 1: Silent All These Years Lovesong (god this rocks, pray to your wheaties that she does it) Encore 2: Pretty Good Year (suprised that she played it, happy that she did.) Sugar (how 'bout that?) Hey Jupiter (fabulous...) So there's Columbia, everyone go!!! You must see her. frances ____________________________________ Frances C.
