The tour dates came from Tori's management who have no involvment with ticket sales. That is left to the individual promoters. Usually the ticket agency (in this case BASS) will deny any information about the show until they are ready to start selling tickets. You should call BASS tickets (408-998-2277) on Friday which is when they announce which concerts will go on sale that weekend. While it is true that Tori has not had a breakdown, per se, it sure sounds like she could use our encouragement. I'd like to ask that anybody planning to go to a concert either concentrate on sending her positive energy, or, if you are daring, sometime during the concert shout words of encouragement to her. I think she needs to know her fans support her and are there for her, as she has been for us. I'd like to see this word spread throughout the on-line community of Tori Amos fans, and I'd appreciate any help members of the list could provide to spread the word. That's exactly what we need. Do you realize that by suggesting such things you are creating a guarantee that at many concerts there will be some idiot who will take this too far and shout things at her between every song? Look people, if Tori needs encouragement give it to her through respect. Give her her space, don't pretend as if you know her, because we don't, and if you are close enough to the stage for her to see you, just smile at her. She will know... And if you are lucky enough to meet her, let her know that she has changed your life. I think that is more than enough for any artist to find the strength they need to continue in this insane business day after day... I'm new to this list, so this is my first post, but I did want to comment on the whole shouting out your approval in the middle of the show bit. I think it is very obnoxious and rude to yell out when someone is in the middle of performing. It shows a lack of respect for her and it annoys everyone around you who is trying to listen and enjoy the show. There are appropriate times for showing your approval, but not in the middle of a song. Some entertainers like i, some despise it. I don't know what Tori would think of it. She has changed all of our lives and we respect and love (what we know of her) a great deal. I think the best thing possible would be to give her standing ovations when she walks on stage and the end of the shows. I think she would greatly appreciate it and it would give her the encouragement that she might (or might not) need. Adam On Wed, 17 Apr 1996, Krista Baker wrote: > Hi. I was very irritated last week at the Tori Concert in FT. Lauderdale because of people not showing the proper respect to Tori and her opening act Willie Porter. Tori knows that we love her so we don't have to interrupt her to tell her that. Everyone take care. I've called 2 times in the course of 2 weeks, and both times I was told that she is on their "big wish list" and that they are trying everything they can to get her there, but there hasn't been an official announcement, and to "stay tuned." We JH> should stop trying to be her blanket friends. In an interview on her "Little Earthquakes" video, Tori speaks of the energy she absorbs from her fans, and how their state of mind and mood contribute to the mix of the concert. I don't have the exact quote, but I'd be glad to furnish it should you demand. In addition, she's spoken of her belief in the spiritual mood of the audience in many of her interviews. So sending Tori 'positive thoughts' could be quite effective, at least in my humble opinion. May I suggest that you don't tell other people how to enjoy Tori? We are all here united on the various lists because of one thing: we enjoy the music and the person of Tori Amos. As we all are individuals, why not allow people to enjoy her each in their own individual way? Finally, I have to admit, what you say absolves all humanity out of the experience of Tori's music, which makes me wonder why you listen to her in the first place. "Her function is to entertain. If she is entertained, it is a by-product." "We absorb for OURSELVES." These thoughts seem very selfish. If this is the way you listen to Tori, this, fine. But do not encroach on the vastly superior way other people relate to and interpret Tori's music. Tori's music is meant to be personal ... if you still think Tori's music is simply to entertain, listen to "Me and a Gun" another time. Ah-ha. Knew I had a relevant quote tucked somewhere away in this dusty old e-mail drawer o' mine. From her interview with CFNY radio: " ... I usually prepare an hour before I walk on the stage, and I call forth different energies that I'm gonna work on that night. And I, I tune into the audience and see what's there."
