Richard Handal posted something on Really Deep Thoughts earlier concerning finding the original title of "Mother" ("Someone Leave the Light On") in the copyright database on the Library of Congress. This made me curious as to what other information the Library of Congress might hold on our dear Tori, and I did a search -- and found quite a bit of information on what songs Tori has registered. I've omitted mention of _Little Earthquakes_, _Under the Pink_, and their singles. There were no _Boys for Pele_ registrations: I have a feeling it was done in England and then honored through the World Copyright Convention. However, there are a great deal of song titles which we have never heard. I suggest these are either parts of Tori's life which she has decided not to release musically, or either early titles for songs which were later renamed. If you don't believe me, feel free to verify this information yourself by telnetting to "locis.loc.gov" and selecting "Copyright Information" off of the main menu. This is government information from the Office of Copyrights. And now ... April 14th, 1987: "Collection of Recordings by Ellen Amos" registered. Includes "Take You By Force" and "Fighting with the Wind". April 22nd, 1987: She registers "Looking for Eldorado". Lyrics by Tori, music by Tori Amos and Brad Cobb. She registers "Nothing Like A Man". No specifics, but registered by Tori Amos and Cindy Marble. She registers "Skirts on Fire", lyrics by Tori, music by Tori and Maranda Michael Walden and Randy Jackson. [No, those are not the guys from Y Kant Tori Read.] June 26th, 1987: "The Second 'Tori' Amos Trilogy of 1987" registered. No specifics. August 14th, 1987: Registers an intriguing "collection of song lyrics". The titles include "Jail Bait", "Never Satisfied", "Little Drummer Boy", "Start the Dance Over", "Take You By Force", "Fighting with the Wind", "The River Runs Deep", and "Friends Don't Give Up". [Transcriber's note: I'm thinking that she may be dealing with her rape in these early songs, especially with the mention of a song title like 'Take You By Force'.] December 23rd, 1987: "Night Before the Wedding" registered, words and music by Tori. April 27th, 1990: "Been One" registered. Lyrics and music by Nancy Shanks. Music by Tori. "Been Two" registered. Lyrics by Nancy Shanks. Music by Tori. May 1st, 1990: "French Kiss" registered. Lyrics and music by Nancy Shanks. Music also by Tori and Paul Delph. November 18th, 1991: "Halloween Beene" registered. Lyrics by Nancy Shanks. Music by Tori. [This is the duet between Tori and Michael Stipe.] ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V1 #42 ************************************
