Nice commercial Jack!! What other mags do you push?? As mentioned here before it is *not* a "nude" !! It is a tabloid-style photo in a indiscreet moment of a concert. KrW It was the least I could do! And never let it be said that I didn't do the least I could do. ------------------------------ From: "Sister Ray" Date: Sun, 24 Mar 1996 22:48:12 CET Subject: Re: Al Stewart and Tori Amos; Heather Nova ** On 23 Mar 96, mfgr@bart.nl wrote: >In a completely unrelated note, I also found a new single from >Heather Nova, featuring a rerecorded version of the title track >"Truth and bone", as well as three live tracks (all of which >recorded in Japan): Like a Hurrican (written by Neil Young), I'm on >fire (Bruce Springsteen) and "Blue black" (Heather Nova). I finally got a copy of the _All These Years_ bio the other night. I think it may have been reprinted to coincide with the BfP promotional push -- this copy had a card in it to send for the songbooks, including the recently- published _Bee Sides_ collection. My favorite picture is the one of Tori getting the gold record for UtP: she's wearing a T-shirt that says "PRETTY VACANT" on it. ;> Thanks to everyone who has posted European tour stories! I'm getting more and more excited for the upcoming shows here, though I agree with those who have expressed reservations about the size of the venues she's playing this time around. I'm glad she's playing the Palace in New Haven, CT -- it's quite possibly the smallest venue of the tour, and the last time I saw her there, for the final American show of the UtP tour, was the best performance I'd seen of hers in a very long time. I find it interesting that the reports of the European shows all mention the "reverential silence" of the audience. That's the way it should be, but alas, that's far from what we're going to get here in the US. That's going to be the worst part by far -- I can handle a large venue, but being surrounded by screaming teenagers is emphatically NOT my idea of a good time. Argh. :P Marion related: >she shrugged and said "I don't talk very well. [pause] I >invited them to come and dance with us here tonight, because I >think people who are murdered need a place to dance..." And >she continued with 'Marianne'. How purely Tori. I would've been in tears, too. >The second time she came back she did 'Amazing grace' (sorry >Meth... ;-) ). Why, thank you for the kind thought. :> (Note to the gallery: "Amazing Grace" is my very least favorite song EVER, I hate hate ***HATE***, no, ***DESPISE*** it with every fiber of my being. Even if Tori does it. ) Nicholas reported: >They asked her 5 questions... one is about the worst habit - to spit gums >out of the window, second one is about what she wears in bed - usually a >tartan blanket with a baseball shirt, third one being who she snort with >the last time - her boyfriend, forth one is what part of body would she >swap - her thighs, and sorry i didn't get the last one... Would you mind elucidating on this a bit more? "who she snort with the last time"?!?!? Sis opined: >::: On the day she told this (i guess) about 25 ppl got killed in the >Netherlands. I know it impresses the masses when something like that >in Scotland happens, but to me it's hypocrite... Were those 25 Dutch people kids under the age of 6? True, a life is a life, but it cuts closer to the bone when it's some madman shooting 16 innocent first-graders for no reason whatsoever. But that's not a matter really to be discussed here. I don't find Tori's remarks hypocritical at all. >>>She will never experiment with othern instruments, with other >>>styles. >> >>Did she tell you this herself? > >::: No, why would she... My point exactly. If she didn't tell you herself, then how do you know that "she will never experiement with other instruments, with other styles"? Be careful when making such absolute statements. >::: Did she tell you this herself? Imho this doesn't only applies to >piano's. I guess she (she who's very carefull about the words she >uses) would have said it otherwise. She said in the interview no >_instrument_ is like a Bosendorfer. This seems rather clear to me. In several other interviews she has used the words "piano" and "instrument" interchangeably. >::: Yes, that's the point i'm making. She only plays _keyboard_ >instruments. I'm curious how she would play a pansfluit, or a >xylofoon [don't know the translation...]. She's not afraid to say that she's not a guitar player (or a pan-flute player, or a xylophone player) -- she's a piano player. Keyboards are her life. Most masters of their instruments stick to that one instrument (or family or instruments) because that's what they have the time and the inclination for. I can't find anything wrong with that. >::: Another way to say it, i'm _not_ saying this is the correct >explanation, she Bosendorfer made her the best offer, and that's why >she's that's positive about that particular factory. Maybe she >doesn't really mind the piano she 's playing on... She does mind. Very much so. During the _LE_ tour she was stuck playing whatever piano the venue had to offer, and believe me, she got stuck with some turkeys. She complained about the situation in interviews, and actively sought out a deal whereby she would be supplied with the best forever. That's what she got. >::: I'm not that sure. But i guess not the language barrier is >giving troubles, rather using two different definitions of 'a >gifted musician'. I guess that's what's unclear. What's yours? My definition of "a gifted musician" is one who can play anything on their instrument with a minimum of effort; one who can pick up other instruments with a minumum of training; one who can write their own good songs; one who doesn't play music as much as let themselves become a conduit through which music can flow freely.
