The unfortunate thing about having a 'life' though, is that one day, you must also die ;) I don't own the book, btw... and at this point have no intention of doing so either (maybe if/when 'the price is right'... like $2.50). Hmmm.. I'm not sure if the book is gonna be worth it or not. I'm too scared to order it. I don't wanna pay so much for something that if it's anything like tori's recent interviews, is gonna turn out to be crap,. Matt. Not sure which interviews you're referring to (I'm decidedly crap at bothering to catch up with such things when they're on tele or the radio, etc), but just following the trajectory of her thought as exemplified by her latest albums... I like where she's going. I want to know more. The book, I found, if ordered via amazon.ca's (and I think also, for not much more money, through amazon.com's) mechanism that used to be exclusively for second-hand books but now seems to be full of new ones too -- I think it might be called 'marketplace' or something -- cost only $30. Granted, I'm apparently stuck waiting for 3-6 weeks for it to arrive (I'm hoping it'll be more around the '3' end of things), but apart from Nadyne's offer (*shaking fist still about missing out on that one!*), that looked like it was going to be a comparable time to any other place I could get it from. If you're not concerned about the wait, that seemed to me like an alright price to pay. :) Becc ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 20:39:48 -0700 (PDT) From: NaThAn "®" Subject: [oztori] but you need an airplane Rebecca Appleton wrote: > cost only $30. I doubt it will tend towards the '6 weeks' end of things, to be honest - -- last thing I bought via Marketplace took about three weeks, iirc. In any case, to answer your question, you don't get an option via Marketplace sellers. You're charged a flat postage and handling fee. Looking at the bright side of the matter, it's probably a good thing if I don't get it before three weeks is out, anyway. *convinces self* My thesis is due on the 24th, on which day I fly overseas for a month (where, if I spend time reading, I'd like it to be Canadian writing, in keeping with the destination), so what the hell. *goes back to reading Foucault in the meantime* Becc ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2005 21:23:54 -0700 (PDT) From: Susanna Hoffs Subject: Re: [oztori] but you need an airplane Rebecca Appleton wrote: > Looking at the bright side of the matter, it's > probably a good thing > if I don't get it before three weeks is out, anyway. > *convinces self* > My thesis is due on the 24th, on which day I fly > overseas for a month > (where, if I spend time reading, I'd like it to be > Canadian writing, > in keeping with the destination), so what the hell. Anyway, I'm new to this list. Just wanna say that I bought my copy from the big stores locally (I'm from Singapore, by the way). If anyone of you would like to get a copy but not able to, I can help out. Might save a little on shipping perhaps (I am not too sure). Also, not to dampen anyone who has ordered from Amazon.ca... Just that, the last time I ordered something from them, it took many months to reach here. At that time, I was convinced it's never going to arrive and I found the cd I wanted by chance locally and bought it. Tsk tsk... A friend of mine had the same problem too. I don't know if it's just us though. ;) I won't really get stuff from them even if the prices are much cheaper. I'll just get my Canadian friend to send them to me. :D So yeah, if anyone wants a copy of the book, let me know. I can check out the stores again and confirm the availability. :) Yee Ling - --- Rebecca Appleton wrote: > Nathan/Susanna, that's the fastest recovery from sex reassignment > surgery I've seen yet! > > But for the record: when backpacking, you don't want to fill your > already limited bag-space with weight that you're not going to be > using whilst travelling.
