Salubrious eh? oo, yeah I'd agree with that (had to look it up :) Is 'Baltimore' really conducive to my well being? I tried it with a little vinegarette but it just didn't sit well, too cheesy by far ;) - -e ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 05:21:38 +0930 From: "Wayne Russell" Subject: RE: [oztori] Glory of 1980[Scanned] > vinegarette but it just didn't sit well, too cheesy by far ;) > > -e *cough* vinaigrette ..dolt ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 May 2005 13:03:55 +0000 From: "Andrew Darwin" Subject: [oztori] RE: oztori-digest V5 #69 Is anyone taping Tori's TV appearances? Was she interviewed by Rove, or did she just play? What other TV appearances have been on? Questions questions..... Polyserena is a great song, and I think Tyrone has a great voice. Fond memories of the Spiegeltent gig in Melbourne years back (when I also gave Katie directions to the loo - wheee! and we met them backstage after the gig coz my friend was pregnant. Shamelessly using her delicate state to gain entry). Still awaiting reorganisation of their European tour which they post poned two years ago. I saw Kylie's Showgirl tour in Glasgow when it opened in Glasgow back in March. It's an amazing show, one of the finest I've seen. Plenty of medley-action to get more songs into the greatest hits tour. In other news... Tori's fab. No interview with Rove - who really should have just chatted with her than with some random who "mooned" Australia on national TV and two Big Brother contestants. I had to force myself so hard not to fall asleep. She also drooled on the microphone. A pretty obvious one. > What other TV appearances have been on? Sunrise on 9 May. She played Sleeps with Butterflies, and had a quick chat with the two hosts who didn't even seem to know much about her music. I'm just wondering - I didn't get a chance to listen to all the radio interviews, would anyone has the links (i've got the abc one) or even has taped them? r. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 00:22:58 +1000 From: "Pete" Subject: [oztori] Tori's last Australian show - in Melbourne How can I describe tonight's Melbourne show, and the incredible difference between it and the first in Melbourne last Thursday! The setlist was absolutely phenomenal. Again she began with "Original Sinsuality" - at which point I thought... eek! I'm about to see the same show, perhaps in a different order. How wrong could I have been. Along the way we got "China", "Yes Anastasia", "Bells For Her", "Jamaica Inn", even "General Joy"! The two Piano Bar covers were absolute showstoppers. The first was a tribute to Australian performer Kylie Minogue, who hit the headlines only yesterday following a breast cancer diagnosis and the resultant postponement of her tour. Somehow in 24 hours Tori managed to learn and put her stamp on Kylie's biggest hit of recent years, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", performing it as a stunning minor key ballad with the word "boy" changed to "girl" throughout the song, as if Tori were singing it to Kylie herself. This was followed by a totally assured rendition of the Beatles' "Let It Be". The final song was "Baker Baker". The scope, breadth, flow, power, energy and sheer delight of this show is something I'll remember for many years to come. It's only my third Tori show but it's hard to imagine she's performed too many that were better. It was hard to fight the tears as I walked back to the car. Fuck I love that woman (women, I love Kylie too) Was that her final Aussie show? *sheds a tear* It was so amazing having her here in Sydney and seeing her twice! I really hope she comes back and makes a habbit of coming here at least every 3-5 years... The logic/flow within it was truly something to behold. Could there, for instance, have been a more perfect song to follow "China" than "Goodbye Pisces"? Or "Let It Be" than "Mrs. Jesus" with its line about "John or Paul/... let it be..." She really put some thought into this one and the effect was brilliant. In her opening chat with the audience (which was cut short by someone yelling something out which Tori responded to, rather than continuing with what she was going to say), she did promise it wouldn't be so long next time. I hope not, or she'll be 52 before we see her again!
