I'm feeling a bit 'petrol emotion' today, no more Tori for who knows how long *sniff* Hi! to all the oztori people I met yesterday, unfortunately I didn't meet you Shannon? (I was cold & tired person in black trench coat) - some people might be interested to know I ran into exlisters Miranda (MillyMolly) and Heath (MrVandemar) who were sitting almost right next to me (5m from Tori - woop :) As Shannon wrote the M&G was a bit of a let down, but it was nice to see that there are so many Tori fans in Perth (or random red-head stalkers.) I felt sorry for the people who had been there since 9am (although I feel sorry for me, for waiting 5hrs! :) > flying in and performing on the day would be tiring), but then she signed > stuff for the disabled girl and her friends, and the guys refused to take and Tori touched the disabled girl and she was cured? Below: message from Alana [cherry_bliss22@hotmail.com] Part 1: - -- Well, I went to the Tori show last night in Perth...it was really really great!! It's not my most favourite show that I've been too - my favourite was the second London show from the Scarlet's Walk tour...OK so that was fucking awesome!! Last night was awesome too...I mean it was totally totally amazing but I don't know...I felt a little bit disappointed maybe?? Anyway, let me start with the M&G. So I got to the Perth Concert Hall about 12 30pm - I was 15th in line...we waited around until just after 5 00ish for her to come out...it was a very long wait in the cold and rain! But I met some really great people in that time (shout out to Wayne and Bevan - where the hell were you??) Anyway, so around 5 00pm some guy (NO idea who he was - never seem him before in any M&G photos or nothing - had a British accent) comes and tells us she'd be out soon but that since it was late she wasn't going to meet anyone individually or sign anything. So she comes out - she looks so beautiful - just truly truly stunning! I couldn't really hear what she was saying most of the time cause she was speaking really softly but she said something like "So what do you guys really want to hear tonight?" and people were yelling out stuff (I didn't because as per usual I was unable to speak in the presence of Tori). Someone there had a Baltmore single! And she kind of had a little conversation with that person..think she said something like 'my father' and I didn't really hear the rest..then she said '1983' which doesn't actually make any sense because Baltimore was released in 1979..and I still can't figure this out. She was outside for about 5 minutes maybe...wow a 5 hour wait for a 5 minute session, although some people had waited since 9 00am! Still it was great and I'm glad I did it because it was very special. In a way, I'm kind of glad that I didn't get the personal conversation and the autograph and everything because I always end up thinking I'm such an idiot afterwards because I'm totally unable to say anything even remotely coherent! Plus I've had the little chat and the hug and the autograph before at a signing in London so I was cool with it but I felt badly for those who haven't had that and who were really looking forward to and wanted that. So that was the M&G. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 May 2005 19:26:58 -0400 From: "Jas J" Subject: RE: [oztori] Concert At The End Of The Universe Below: message from Alana [cherry_bliss22@hotmail.com] Part 2: - -- OK , so on to the show. Can I just say how awesome it is to sit in the second row!!! Like you can see everything...every facial expression, the little details on her shoes, everything. Although when you do sit that close and she can see you if she starts staring at you while she's singing it can make you feel really uncomfortable...well it makes me uncomfortable anyway! I'm sure you've seen the setlist so I won't tell you all of that...but for me my personal highlights were - Cool on Your Island - this was probably my favourite..6 shows and I've FINALLY got to hear it!! Played on the Rhodes. OMFG...I was loving this! Take to the Sky - brilliant, but it made me a little sad cause it reminded me of someone that should have been there but wasn't : ( Jamaica Inn - probably because of the line 'the sexiest thing is trust' which I guess I'm really feeling right now with my partner being overseas and all. Live to Tell - was beautiful, although I was sad she didn't play any of my requests! Not that I expected her too of course. Can I just say that I felt a bit cheated by the Piano Bar because both of those songs she's done before at other shows but anyway...and was at least hoping for a cover debut, if not a debut of her own?? Hey Jupiter - the Dakota version on the organ! Repeated the I go from day to day...bit twice. Was *so* amazing...:D Totally loved this one but perhaps liked it a little better when I heard with the band. Spring Haze and Josephine were great. Original Sinsuality - I was fucking loving this one!! Her vocals were incredible... I read on the Dent forums that she was meant to play Sweet the Sting and Pretty Good Year for the 2nd encore and I'm sooooo diappointed that she didn't!!! I really really really wanted to hear PGY!! Twinkle is lovely, yes, but to me it's always been a very sad song to close with and I feel this way even about it being the last song on BFP. It actually makes me a tiny bit depressed to hear it. Other general comments: - - She seemed...I don't know...not very connected with the audience tonight?? Like she came on stage, did her thing and left basically. She came on stage very quickly, left for a very short time between the main set and between the encores and after the encores made an extremely quick exit off the stage. Which is fine because she probably was really tired and she'd had to deal with the time difference between Perth and Sydney so really when she came on stage at 9 00pm it would have been like 11 00pm by her time if that makes sense?? - - The stage set up well and truly sucked. She didn't even have her Bosendorfer! It was like all rented stuff up there. A few lights and that was basically it. She said when Piano Bar started that she didn't have her sign, that it had been sent to Adelaide instead and that was when she said the 'Fuck Adelaide' thing. Ummm...but yeah...she didn't just not have the sign she had fucking NOTHING. I was a little bit (OK, more than a little bit) disappointed with that...like I remember how it was in London 03 with these huge rigs with all the lighting and the projection screens and everything and..I don't know I just like all that I guess. It adds more atmosphere. But it was just her...on a stage...with a curtain behind her...and 3 (rented) instruments. At least for the Perth show in 94 she had a Bosendorfer! It wasn't her own but it was still a Bosendorfer. I'm obviously not pissed at Tori personally, cause these logistical issues have nothing to do with her, but pissed at the promotions company or whoever who decided that was it was too expensive to send all the gear out to Perth. This also makes me think that IF an Australian tour ever happened again it MAY NOT include Perth because I doubt whether she would be too pleased to not even be able to play her Bose if she comes here! It's just speculation but whatever... - - This is just a personal thing, but I wasn't overly thrilled with the setlist in its entirety..but this is only because it was me and my partner's first anniversary yesterday so you know I was hoping for more lovey, la-la type songs like A Sorta Fairytale and Sleeps with Butterflies (look, just shut up before you say anything about this one OK? :) ) and stuff. But that's only cause of what day it was for me. Anyway, so at the end of the day it was great, it was amazing, it was ureal, it was beautiful, it really was...but I'm left feeling a little disappointed and a little sad - partly because the day after is such a come down and partly because I was just hoping for that little bit more of an experience. I now want to go to the States for the 'Summer of Sin' tour. :-) And if you've read all of this ...well jeez...you've done well to get through it all and you've clearly got too much time on your hands! ~Alana ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 10:52:45 +1000 From: "Leia Demtschyna" Subject: RE: [oztori] A wee bonnie lass LESS GEORGE, MORE TORI >From: "Andrew Darwin" >To: oztori@smoe.org >Subject: [oztori] A wee bonnie lass >Date: Mon, 16 May 2005 13:18:11 +0000 > >wow, I didn't know that the noonans were supporting.
