To oztori folks As long-time subscribers are aware, this list was relatively 'dead' until the tour was announced. It would be great to keep this place alive, and perhaps regain the atmosphere it once did. To all the new kids, we welcome you and ask you to stay. To all the old faces who've popped their heads back in, it's great to see you again. To keep the peace, we have some general guidelines: 1. For the convenience of members, please delete all portions of an email you are not replying to. 2. IIf you post something off-topic, let it be known in the subject. 3. If you just want to flame someone, please refrain. 4. If you have any problems with someone, bring it up with them personally, rather than on- list; alternatively, send the list-moderator an email (owner-oztori@smoe.org) with your complaint. Play nice. I was struggling a bit with some of the new tracks so it's always good to see someone's on the ball. Julian's description of the M&G was right on the money too. It'll be interesting to know if they (management/security) were more prepared for it today. While it's been many years since I was last on this list, it was nice to put some faces to names I've seen. While Nathan is quite clearly baiting people as per usual, while I've seen some photos in recent years of Tori that are unfortunate, it didn't matter if you had 20/20 vision or beer goggles on, Tori was simply lovely. For a woman that's only a few years older than me, she's certainly still prime MILF material. I hope you look that good at her age. I just didn't know how tiny she was in real life. On the subject of typos/misspelling, I think we can all get over that but it is annoying to read one line followed by a page of quoted material. It's more insidious than spam as I can delete that outright without opening it up to see if there are any nuggets of wisdom contained therein. Looking forward to more drool, less drivel and more show reviews. This is actually incorrect in most cases. Historically, a 'cover version' referred to two situations mainly: (1) if a black artist or group in the USA published a record, then a white artist or group would often do a version also, so that this would be acceptable to the white audience, back in the days when white people did not appreciate music by blacks," Maybe Tori *is* doing this - trying to make songs originally done by people of other races palatable for her "native American ancestry" :P - hence it could be argued, if you believe the diatribe she spits out, that the Piano Bar songs are, indeed, true 'cover versions'. n. But now that my old memory kicks into gear, I think the discussion used to be about each album having an element (Pele:fire, Choirgirl:Water etc) so Beekeeper would be .. . royal jelly?" I remember this discussion from a while ago (a loooong while ago) - I think we had disagreements on whether UTP was air or water, and ended up deciding that it was air due to the broken bird wings and misty clouds (although clouds *are* water...); that Pele was fire because she's the volcano goddess, Earthquakes was obviously Earth, and Choirgirl was water (picture her swimming in Spark, and the aquarium that's been mentioned a couple of times recently). At that time, Venus hadn't even been released. Imagine, a time without Venus..! So maybe then having exhausted all her wiccan elements bar spirit, Tori moved on to other things, like Venus = the universe, Scarlet = the journey, Beekeeper = nature/life, Librarian = the feminine, SLG = the masculine? And if each album is supposed to represent a theme, then Tori really has a lot in common with Neil Gaiman artistically, when you compare his personifications with this abstract kind of mythology.
