I assume you could hang around galleries and whatnot, it really depends what you like and where you stay. Sydney isn't as interesting as Melbourne I must say, haha! I was going to suggest check www.sydneyguide.net.au , but the stuff they suggest is pretty touristy and commercial. Maybe you can hang around the Rocks (it's close to Opera House), it's got a Sunday market where they sell all sorts of things. Pancakes on the Rocks (a restaurant) has good pancakes - if you like pancakes. hehe. There are far more important 'crimes' than this which they should be working on. If someone wants to sell their tickets *which they have paid for* at 8x the price - as long as people out there are willing to pay it - how is it any different from someone selling a Baltimore single for $1000+? Oooh it's illegal to bootleg shows as well - are you going to dial 000 on your mobile if you see someone at your show with a mic? n. Nathan, get out of it. The problem is that the tickets aren't real, so on that front it is against the law. If someone's selling a legitimate tickets, fair enough. But this discussion is about what happens when there tickets are not real. I bought tickets to REM in Perth and Sydney, both on the Internet, both through Ticketmaster, both on presale back in October, both by clicking furiously the very second that tickets went on sale - Sydney I got 3rd row, Perth I got 20th row? Either there was a bigger demand in Perth (not likely given Sydney sold out in a couple of days) or the tickets get released in a weird way (ie: 99.crap FM bought the first 19 rows.) So has anyone worked in ticketing - how do these places distribute the best tickets, web, phone, sleeping on the sidewalk, or write a letter to Tori with my birthday pen? vi) Someone wrote about the short notice on the tour - It seems rather strange to me that if Tori has previously not toured because there just wasn't enough interest, concert dates would be released with just a month's notice. It hardly leaves time to beat up enough interest to get patrons along, the way things have played out it would seem that the promoters knew Tori would sellout straight away (no notice, no real advertising), so has it really been that no promoter would book Tori for Aust or that Tori/her management wasn't prepared to come? - -ennui ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Apr 2005 01:53:19 -0700 (PDT) From: "Nathanæl-Quentin" "®" Subject: Re: [oztori] beware scalpers Jas J wrote: > The problem is that the tickets aren't real, so on > that front it is against the law. I don't know if it's been that no promoter would book her. I think it's stilla case of her mangament/label refusing to bring her here. If you look at her tour schedule, I'm betting on Coppel paying a very nice price to get Tori out here. She's just been squished in during her other tours.
