Yay or nay? If it was an IRC channel, it would have to be something other than #oztori, as that got highjacked by Dan Palm, who is, if I recall correctly (and I do recall correctly), a cunt. :O) J Oh, while I'm suggesting stuff, can I suggest we all agree on songs for Tori to perform as part of Tori's Piano Bar, and then each submit the SAME few requests ... that should maximise our chances of hearing the songs we want, and not some random shit that a fairy-winger submitted. [For those who don't know, this tour, Tori's doing two cover songs per night as part of 'Tori's Piano Bar' ... these covers are requests submitted by fans thru toriamos.com. You submit your song choice and your city, and Tori may or may not perform your choice in your city. She performed Live to Tell tonight, because enough people got together to demand it. We can put suggestions here, and maybe get some kind of consensus on a few songs (a couple for each city), then all submit a particular song and a particular city. It might work, and worse comes to worst, it'll give us something to do while we wait a month for her to get her ass here ... Find local movie times and trailers on Yahoo! Love the idea of getting together to request songs, even if it is just a way to pass the days (35 for melbournites). off the top of my head i can think of a few i have heard that i particularly like - lovesong, a case of you, daniel, angie and, of course, smells like teen spirit. wow, hearing either lovesong or a case of you would just be divine! of course, it will all be divine, but they're special favourites heather Julian P wrote: > Given the resurgence of this list, and the high volume > of discussion, I was wondering whether it might be > worth reviving the oztori channel at IRC, or finding > some other mechanism for live chat ... while email > announcements and questions for the group are more > suited to email, chatting might also serve a useful > purpose. > > Yay or nay? > > If it was an IRC channel, it would have to be > something other than #oztori, as that got highjacked > by Dan Palm, who is, if I recall correctly (and I do > recall correctly), a cunt. > > :O) > > J > > Oh, while I'm suggesting stuff, can I suggest we all > agree on songs for Tori to perform as part of Tori's > Piano Bar, and then each submit the SAME few requests > ... that should maximise our chances of hearing the > songs we want, and not some random shit that a > fairy-winger submitted. I thought I was so alone, but I found this mailing list and now I know there is a whole bunch of us out there! I thought this would be a good idea to unite the community, so those lonely Sydney toriphiles can find get to know one another. This is a roll-call for those coming to the Sydney show. Here are the rules: - - Write down your full name, or nickname if you prefer, - - Your row and your seat number to the Sydney show - - Your nomination for the 'Tori's Piano Bar' cover request (limit of 2) I don't know who I'm sitting next to, because in my excitement, I didn't want to wait and contact Ruby to get tickets together (and in any case, I wouldn't have waited - nothing personal Ruby, but a row is an extra distance away from Tori ...). I want to know who the lucky son-of-a-gun is. So let me start you guys off ... and have fun! 1. She does her 'standard' covers, like Rattlesnakes, and Famous Blue Raincoat, in the main set, and has been doing songs that she's never done before or only very rarely, like Like a Prayer, Rocketman, and Killing Me Softly. Although she's also done some more common ones likes Candle in the Wind and Imagine. In honour of Nick Cave touring Australia the same week, I think we should get her to do the Mercy Seat. Not only does it have an 'Australian flavour', but that would be demon-Tori like we've never seen before! Find local movie times and trailers on Yahoo! Ah but Nick has a flat, monotone voice that can't hit high notes for shit.... er ;) I think "Where the Wild Roses Grow" with special guest Kylie would be a better option. n.
