OK, I am not the official list holder here but enough people WANTED me to last year so: here goes a tirade (how I hate them - how to flame wars keep going on usenet - it's such an EFFORT!) This is about enough I've had about this crap. Nathan - don't reply to people to provoke them in anyway. You did not NEED to reply to Dan/Bindy's mail. You are way too negative - you can have your opinions about Tori or anyone else - but please try to... be at least a little more selective in your posts from now on. The joke has worn off - especially for me and that is saying something. The list is being destroyed (how many times is that now) (yes a little buffy link there) Re: #oztori2 - for the SMALL amount of people who bother to go on irc to chat anymore - Julian Pinder and myself decided as a joke to take our chats to #oztori2 as a joke - cause Zac's permanent and silent presence was becoming a little... creepy! :O) LOL! (don't worry we still love your caffeine-soaked ass :D) The next day we get a post here from Zac saying he's basically closed the #oztori borders and withdrawn diplomats!! It seemed quite extreme. ALSO - if more people would VISIT the channel(s) it'd be WAY more fun. I don't think I've seen a "crowd" on IRC since Lavs, Becc, Nina, Pam, Nathan, DanGee, Dan Palm, Dylan, Zac and myself were ALL on there one night - must have been about 2000. To clear things up - I think that there is going to be deviations from topics relating SPECIFICALLY about tori. BUT if they become conversations that really don't or can't involve anyone else any more - take them to private e-mail. Stop the bitchy infighting - It gives me gas. I'm really sick of what's happened here - cause I've been on here from like the beginning - and there has been at least 300+ people who have posted to this list since its days as part of onelist.com. Not BLAMING or NAMING any names - but I now have e-mails being sent to me about shit that had NOTHING to do with me in particular but make me feel like the shit. I don't appreciate stuff like that. No ill-feelings to those people but it gets petty - and gassy :) I TOO have received a lot of spam - but how can it be through this list? Can someone explain that... I just assumed it was because I had posted my real e-mail addy in too many places or some annoying person from uni had trawlled the accounts (anyone ELSE get spam from Taiwan!?!?!?!) Can we CHAT a bit more? Maybe it's time to make this e-mail list a UBB web-board? OK breatheAndrew - it's nearly over (fuck I hate these posts) OH!! NO MORE POSTINGS ABOUT PUNCTUATION and/or SPELLING MISTAKES - it's so fucking dumb. And it's not just Nathan. I makes anyone who responds to such posts look like complete and utter tools (knoweldge nazis). STOP the bitter posts - if you want to yell at someone - e-mail them personally. THAT does not give you the invitation to post that e-mail to the list. That is wrong and just bad nettiquette. Arhhhhhhh I'm all tense now. OK there is one more thing. I want a ROLL CALL of EVERYONE - and I mean EVERYONE who is on this list. I mean it - I've been asking for one for like 3 years. Can you respond to the list with either the words "daily" or "digest" please. NOW... go forth and talk about Tori. OH and one more thing - meet-up more... through the brissy met-up I've met some of the most fantabulous people around and we have great fun EVERY month - sometimes more that once a month. You wont be sorry. If Some of the old faces from Brisbane are on here - please turn up once in a while - I haven't seen Nina Riddel or Pam Collum for like yonks! THAT IS ALL. P.S. This is reguarding tori - and yes I'm pissed off. I just went and saw Fleetwood Mac on Thursday night in Brisbane - and it was a TREMENDOUS show. There were 13,000 people there and that was one of two shows. They had mentioned that we were their 89th concert since May last year. They had already been around the US, Germany and the UK and now around Australia. I immediately thought - were the hell is Tori then? This group hasn't had a studio album out in like 11 years until 03 - and they still tour. They are in their 50s/60s and they still tour. Where is Tori. Kiss another aging band still tours Australia. The Stones came here last year. DAVID BOWIE was in Brisbane this week. Where is Tori. Don't give me crap about record sales, or distance, or age - or even babies - Mick Fleetwood (I think) has twin baby girls the same age as Tash. Where is Tori? It's now a DECADE nearly since she was last here. It's absurd. STOP the bickering and get her the fuck out here! Oh another thing is - they had a show in Newcastle - and thought I wonder why - I realised - it would be for those fans who couldn't get all the way into sydney from country and regional NSW. PLUS paying for accomadation in Newcastle compared to Sydney would be much cheaper for those fans. Here is a band who has been in existance for more than 30 years - same with bands like KISS and The Stones and there is one thing that drives them the FANS - the have had time in their carreers when they've been like "fuck the fans" but they are back with a vengence and doing these shows because they know there are people out there who just dearly want to see their favourite artist or band. A lot of the time their tours don't MAKE money. There is NO excuse for Tori Amos for not Touring Australia... and I'm not talking about just Sydney and Melbourne - which wouldn't bother a few of you - but Bris, Syd, Melb, Adel, Perth, Auckland and more places! End of rant for now - but who is in agreement with me? Thanks - oh and stop the bitchy e-mails it gives me hives - or was it gas? Anyway you've all got a mental image :) Thanks Andrew Rayfield oztori member since 1998. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 20:42:37 GMT From: Rebecca Appleton Subject: Re: [oztori] ENOUGH. (why'd we get off them in the first place?) hello - yep i'm still here and on the daily post thingy. as you've probably noticed, i just tend to lurk - i don't have a great deal to say. afaik, the reason we left yahoo is because it was losing posts on a regular basis, and it generally just sucked. most of the spam problem is as rebecca pointed out - smoe doesn't 'munge' the e-mail addresses in the archives, so any kind of robot could trawl through them and pick up our collective addresses that way. as far as good + free mailing list sites go, i can't personally think of any - but i can certainly look around if everyone wants to move. z. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 12:46:28 -0800 From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Re: [oztori] ENOUGH. Which saves other people both the potential embarrassment* and time-wastage, and the bandwidth-gobbling caused by sending email to the list to ask. * I say 'potential embarrassment', by the way, and mean only at the hands of you, for who else would honestly care if people aren't keeping abreast of every little tidbit of news and information out there about Tori?
