I knowwit comes out Nov 17 in UK & Nov 18 in USA... but oi've 'eard dat it iz either Nov 24 or 30 here? How typical of Austraya to not even really have announced it 'properly' and to be behind the rest of the world with the release date for no reason at all. I have word from Warner that it has been pushed back a week to 1st Dec, and there is a possibility that it may not get released at all this year!! This is apparently because there are a number of other "best of" albums coming out at the moment (Chilli Peppers, REM, et al) that may take priority, promotionally. I just received a promotional laminate yesterday, which has all the Warner-released album covers on it (incl. SLG interestingly), in addition to the TOAL cover. I'll post an update on the release date if I find out it gets changed again. Don't they realise that, by and large, Tori's albums only appeal to the likes of us who pretty much buy any rubbish she puts out (helloooo my 5 copies of SLG)?! And hence it doesn't matter if they do no promotion (what promotion have they ever given her here post UTP... well TVAB got a TV ad at a late time-slot I never saw). The most I've seen was a poster of Tori atop a broomstick poster for 'choirgirl' stuck on the wall of a side-street in Collingwood which caught the corner of my eye on a tram. Do they not also realise that 'alot' of us are v. internet-'savvy', and hence will buy imports if they can't give us the Austrayan thing in a timely manner?! Which brings me to another 'beef'.. "IMO", most Australian Tori releases printed in Australia are so inferior to their O/S-made counterparts. Take for example the card-wallet sleeves that most of her singles here came in... The TVAB & FTCH label on the CD almost looks like a cheap attempt at counterfeiting when you compare them to O/S-pressed copies. And the TVAB booklet came on crappier paper than the US digipak booklet. > I > just received a promotional laminate yesterday, > which has all the Warner-released album covers on it > (incl. Whose toes did you have to suck to get that? :P Great...and now it looks like there's going to be a digipak version of TOAL http://www2.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=281;-1;-1;-1&sku=115641 Grrrrr me no like digipaks - well if they don't have plastic trays in them still (hellooo TVAB). (ie the cd/dvd release) There's a full track listing of both discs on the site Nayth mentioned. Apart from the packaging, the Aus release should be no different, despite Sanity.com.au's claims that it will have exclusive tracks that aren't on the US release (no doubt Warner sent out an ambiguous retailer information sheet which Sanity mis-interpreted). >and is that a >ltd ed release? (if this has been discussed already tell me again, >because i wasn't listening. According to the promo poster I received, the CD/DVD combo *is* a limited release. Bear in mind, however, Sony made the same claims about Scarlet's Walk last year, and Atlantic's track record in this department is hardly reliable (hello Winter LE). Actually I've seen billboards/posters up for every one of Tori's release since Pele. They're usually put up in dirty/trendy/grungey places where I live(d). Although I can't say as I saw the broomstick one! Sounds cute. >Do they not also realise that 'alot' of us are v. >internet-'savvy', and hence will buy imports if they >can't give us the Austrayan thing in a timely manner?! It's also possible that retailers will foresee this and import the albums themselves (okay well perhaps not the likes of HMV, Sanity, et al, but your more collectable/seedy stores are likely to). >Which brings me to another 'beef'.. "IMO", most >Australian Tori releases printed in Australia are so >inferior to their O/S-made counterparts. Take for >example the card-wallet sleeves that most of her >singles here came in... I'm surprised that you, being Tori's Patron Saint of Collectables, don't see the value in having the uniquely dodgy packaging available exclusively to us. Speaking of which, I picked up the HJ(D)/Pro Widow single in its deluxe cardboard slipcover on the weekend from Redeye. "ISWYM" about the crap CD printing... you can hardly decipher the image printed on the disk. Digipaks for full album releases are a bit dodge, tho. >Whose toes did you have to suck to get that? :P The same toes that got me advanced copies of the last three releases . If I happen to get an advance copy this time around, like last time anyone who's interested can contact me so I know how many "back ups" I need to make ;). That is, providing I can get around the copy protection that the listing of TOAL hmv.com.au alludes to. I have Oztrayan card-wallet sleeve singles of CG, God, and PTM... at which point I then discovered the joys of import stores and Record Collector mag (pre me having internet days) & hence soon discovered the joys of jewel cases (which look much neater in a cabinet than cardboard crap). > Speaking of which, I picked up the HJ(D)/Pro Widow > single in its deluxe cardboard slipcover on the > weekend from Redeye. I think Australia should re-consider its "lucky cunt'ry" (lol maybe it should became the GLTY cunt'ry.. ask Julian if you don't geddit) to the "cheap & nasty cunt'ry". > "IHWYS"... although some of the digipaks are okay, > like the US Hey Jupiter. You don't have that 'luxury' with the US TVAB CD digipak. > That is, > providing I can get around the copy protection that > the listing of TOAL hmv.com.au alludes to. odg... no!!!! The O/S pressed copies won't havvit will they? :( Farking record cum'pennies.
