Um, picked up new Sanity mag just for the fuck of it all... turned to letters page, and OMFG.. Its' a pic of TOri! and it's only slightly small it's not like thumbprint. A picture of Tori. a Scarlet's Walk era one.. the one with arms on kitchen table in that weird green shirt, with the messy hair and no facial expression, sorta looks like madonna. and then i think "hmm i better go back get 8 more copies"... hmm, got like 16 when pj harvey article was in.. and ended up throwing out like ... 12. Um... didn't have time to get more, but BELIEVE ME I WILL. i'm like omfg tori is mentioend for once.. let's al BOMBARD them with emails about how great tori is and stuff. they fucked up, said it's been too long since tori toured here.. and they said she was here in 96.. uh huh, i don't think so. um, and the email was from a certain HOLLY WILLIAMSON!. goooo hollly, you fucking awesome.. canberra yet?.. so we are among celebrities, y'all.. fabulous uh huh. not really but y'know it's cool. .mattyx.v ******************************* my online journal: - http://unspokenthings.blogspot.com "all people who are fat seem to eat alot of chips. knock it off." - Courtney Love ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2003 02:32:06 +1000 From: sid vicious Subject: [oztori] Re: Tori albums and relativity I'm beginning to think I'm over Tori. Nothing since BFP (or maybe FTCH) has really impressed me. It's been nice, but not stunning like the earlier stuff. Still, the discussion about what are favourites made me play things again... My verdict: 1. UTP - almost flawless, B-sides included 2. LE/BFP (tie) - LE: great songs (inc. B-sides) but a bit overproduced, esp Precious Things. BFP: a bit long? 3. FTCH - experiments work... 4. SW - was Tori told to get real? 5. SLG - interesting; IMHO not crap! 6. YKTR - interesting but not the strongest due to songs, production and lack of piano 7. TVAB - too many experiments fail... Excessive datura intake? I'd really like to know what happened between FTCH and SW - did Tori just get weirder, or was she trying to break her contract with WEA??? (Did Epic read her the riot act?) Maybe Tori could do a trip hop album next - that could be really interesting... Nice observations. > I'd really like to know what happened between FTCH > and SW - did Tori just > get weirder, or was she trying to break her contract > with WEA??? Bit o'that... Her fan-base became annoying teens, and she whored herself out to America, and she got married, had a kid, lost some of her venom, and became a tad more "pedestrian". A large chunk of quality control also went out the window with Eric. > (Did Epic > read her the riot act?) They read her the riot poof one.. ho ho ho. Nah, I doubt they still even realise she's on their 'books'. > Maybe Tori could do a trip > hop album next - that > could be really interesting... ..or maybe she could take a few years off, find something inspiring to write about again, and try having the concept of not-having-a-concept for her next album.
