ONLY the one - and yes it probably changes all the time... but one song that is just so special to you for all the right reasons. Maybe one day it just struck a chord with-in you that made you fall in love with it. I don't care - but It has to be the song that you have a real attachment to. Your favourite. The one song that if you could only ever play one Tori song EVER AGAIN. What is your favourite Tori song. You don't need to give reasons if you don't want to - if you do that'd be great and interesting. You mightn't cause the song is special to you - or that you are too lazy/busy - or you can if you want to give us something to read - or an insight into you - or just for fun. I don't care. I wonder if we can make this a thread that nearly everyone posts to. Answer: (everyone should answer this one - if they don't then why do we have this list? It's a dead on target topic) Me: Yes, Anastasia. It was the summer of 94/95 I'd just become a Tori fan after borrowing LE. I got the double LE/UTP. I listened to pretty much nothing else that WHOLE summer holidays. I was blown away with Y,A... not straight away - but one night I caught a lyric... thought I'd been through this in 1919, counting the tears of 10,000 men. I don't know - or care what or Tori really wrote this line - about Russian Revolution or what ever?? I don't know - I don't care... It just seemed as though she might have been a woman on the eve of World War 2 and couldn't believe that she was about to go through what the world did just 20 years earlier. Then the rest of the song took on a meaning. Maybe not the one Tori envisinged - I don't care - It's what *I* got out of it. That's what it was to me then - I wasn't familiar with the track names, or anything at the time. I was a Tori Virgin - but this line just made the whole song just so much more powerful. It caught my breath. I'm still trying to breath, Tori. OK maybe a little - deep - or personal - I don't care. Your turn. ------------------------------ Date: 9 Jun 2003 11:09:07 -0000 From: "Matty Vines" Subject: Re: [oztori] WAKE UP! > I'll list some names and you can reply... ************* i come when called, i come - that's all. send it up on fire, death before dawn. mattyv. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Jun 2003 23:21:05 +1000 From: "Lavenda" Subject: Re: [oztori] What Tori Song... Winter. From seeing/hearing it on Rage back in 92. It somewhat spoke to me about daughters and fathers drifting (or however) apart. And then it's twice been the song playing as I've given birth (and it's not like I've had it on repeat). Answer: (everyone should answer this one - if they don't then why do we have this list? It's a dead on target topic) I'll have to agree with Lavs... Winter. It was the first ever Tori song I heard. A really close friend played it for me, and it always makes me think of him. It's also the first song I taught myself to play on piano (a very long, slow, painful process, I assure you)... I think it might be the jazzy feel to the "I got big bird on the fishing line...." section that you can just let rip whilst singing along to it. You can feel yourself morphing into the song and becomming it's driving force or at least wanting to be. Maybe it is a vocalist thing. ~Bindy Go to: http://www.livejournal.com/users/cancerian/ for Ramblings From The Moon Child _________________________________________________________________ Get mobile Hotmail. Subject: [oztori] WAKE UP! Thanks for that Andrew. I've now got "Sleepyhead" by Blueline Medic stuck in my head. I'm sure I'll have it stuck in my head all day too! "Wake up, wake up, sleepyhead..." as for fave Tori song - Caught A Lite Sneeze. No reason - it's just the song that makes me stop whatever I'm doing when I hear that first note. I feel my breathing change. It's quite extraordinary. Strange strange song - haven't figured out why it has this effect...yet.. Your favourite. > The one song that if > you could only ever play one Tori song EVER AGAIN. > What is your favourite > Tori song. Moi: Winter. (yes, and studio version) Why?: 'tis the very first Tori song I ever heard (*sniff*), whilst watching a taped vid of Rage top 60 on June 20 1992 [lol yes I have autistic tendencies & elephant mind missy I *DO* have]... and you always kinda have a special place in your heart for your 'first' ;) Also, Tori is the sexiest woman I've ever seen in that vid in the "hair is grey and the fires are burning, so many dreams on the shelf" part - firey red hair blowing & luscious red lips [oooh stops self before um.. heh]... Although I ("doh") taped over the vid the next week, and didn't really give Ms Amos another thought till '94... but I used to occasionally get the "when you gonna make up your mind, when you gonna love you as much as I do" chorus bit stuck in my head when I would walk my dawg along the river sometimes... tres catchy. And it's from the time when Tori was new, fresh, exciting, had interesting things to say, and could still shatter crystal ;) Pure Tori without the BS. And way before the tragedy that was SLG was even an itch in her jockstrap (or something). > maybe a little - deep - or personal - I don't care. Wow. Nathan. ===== "I want to be a lawyer, I want to be a scholar But I really can't be bothered" - 'Sat In Your Lap', Kate Bush. "Nathan - I think - no I KNOW I am in love with you" - Celia, 27/5/03. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Ok, now although there are several on Boys for Pele that will ALWAYS mean a lot to me and FTCH also has Hotel which I love, I'm going to say that my favourite Tori song according to Andrew's above criteria would be Virginia. I guess because it has been such a long time since Tori has produced such a musically beautiful and intricate song. It has so many layers - not only beautiful background vocals but also several different piano melodies that link up together so well. Reminiscent of CALS and perhaps even SATY. I've got to also say that Scarlet's Walk is such a relief! If she had put out another piece of shite like SLG I would've had to shake my fist and scowl :) Nilay... _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is now available on Australian mobile phones.
