I was there because Kristian's a friend of mine. Did the meetup people come? _________________________________________________________________ ninemsn Extra Storage is now available. The greatest remixer on the face of the earth still couldn't save that song from being well a pile of shite. For some reason, that song in my mind conjures up images of being the musical equivalent of pickled gerkhins... which the last time I had one of those in my mouth I couldn't make it to the bathroom sink in time, so vomited on the door. > Oh dear. Next there will be Tori - The Remixes > album out. Honey where HAVE you been?!?!?! There was talk of this happening in 96/97 after the 'success' off the Pro Widow/ITSOHV/Blue Skies mixes. This is where Gavo's Houseback Mix of Horses & Silkscreen-whatever's remix of Father Lucifer - gasp - both of which I like.. and I like some of the Blue Skies mixes. But alas, 'twas scrapped. But I wouldn't worry about "Tori - The Remixes", as both Atlantic & Sony are too lazy/dumb to cash in on Tori's 'rabid' fans & release this kinda stuff. Fools. Also, Tori's 'getting on' a bit now.. and perhaps isn't the most iconic 'dance diva' figure for today's 'youngin's... Although I guess if Cher can do it.. (but hey they already [unsuccessfully of course] tried to make Tori Cher with those Jackie's Strength 'remixes'). BUT what pisses me off MOST about this whole remix bonanza is... we can get these (mostly) crappy 'mixes' (sic) released to buy, but we CAN'T get any fucking new b-sides on official releases/or even heard. > There will be > Tori doof doof music with the club trax of > Professional Widow, Raspberry > Swirl, Hotel and Don't Make Me Come To Vegas. Hotel is a song that SHOULD have had remixes. It would (?? well then again maybe not given Tori's track record of 'remixing') have worked nicely. You just DON'T remix a song like Jackie's Strength or DMMCTV. Ditto why weren't there any TVAB remixes? Stupid, stupid record companies run by old men in grey suits with white hair. 'tis a Biblical quote, apparently. I thought that, too, until the (original) song hit a chord with me. That chord was the night that I ended up flying across the country on less than six hours notice to save my best friend from himself. Being a completist, I've ordered the vinyl anyway. Yeah, I know, I'll start looking into getting a life. /nm ------------------------------ End of oztori-digest V3 #149 ****************************
